Our candidates are taken from the list of targets that were spatially unresolved with Hubble. We have determined the orbital periods for 16 of these compact binary candidates. The period distribution ranges from 0.14 to 9.16d and peaks near 0.6d. The original sample therefore contains two sets of binaries, wide orbits (~100-1000au) and close orbits (~1-10au), with no systems found in the ~10-100au. This observational evidence confirms the bimodal distribution predicted by population models and is also similar to results obtained in previous studies. We find no binary periods in the months to years range, supporting the post common envelope evolution scenario. One of our targets, WD 1504+546, was discovered to be an eclipsing binary with a period of 0.93d.</description><source format="bibcode">2019MNRAS.484.5362A</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/484/5362</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/125/2621">J/AJ/125/2621 : SDSS WD-M binary parameters (Raymond+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/129/2428">J/AJ/129/2428 : M dwarf-white dwarf binary systems (Silvestri+, 2005)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/131/1674">J/AJ/131/1674 : Close binary systems from SDSS DR4 (Silvestri+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/134/741">J/AJ/134/741 : New close binary systems from the SDSS DR5 (Silvestri+, 2007)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/484/5362</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/484/5362/table1 (The targets observed during the campaign.)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/484/5362/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/484/5362/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/484/5362/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>6.638333</ra><dec>39.150833</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/1746 2695 4455 4880 5397 5942 5946 6616 8438 11031 11336 11370 11416 11813 20100 20209 23208 23501 40682 44614</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/484/5362?format=ascii</footprint></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/484/5362/table1</name><description>The targets observed during the campaign.</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
