Such line profiles have been found to arise from the bulk motion of ionized gas clouds associated with galactic-scale outflows, merging pairs of galaxies each harbouring a supermassive black hole (SMBH), and/or galactic-scale disc rotation. It remains unclear, however, how the frequency of narrow-line velocity splitting may depend on AGN luminosity. Here we study the correlation between the fraction of Type 2 AGNs with double-peaked narrow emission lines and AGN luminosity as indicated by [OIII] {lambda}5007 emission-line luminosity L_[OIII]_. We combine the sample of Liu et al. (2010. Cat. J/ApJ/708/427) at z~0.1 with a new sample of 178 Type 2 AGNs with double-peaked [OIII] emission lines at z~0.5. We select the new sample from a parent sample of 2089 Type 2 AGNs from the SDSS-III/Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey. We find a statistically significant (~4.2{sigma}) correlation between L_[OIII}]_ and the fraction of objects that exhibit double-peaked narrow emission lines among all Type 2 AGNs, corrected for selection bias and incompleteness due to [OIII] line width, equivalent width, splitting velocity, and/or equivalent width ratio between the two velocity components. Our result suggests that galactic-scale outflows and/or merging pairs of SMBHs are more prevalent in more powerful AGNs, although spatially resolved follow-up observations are needed to resolve the origin(s) for the narrow-line velocity splitting for individual AGNs.</description><source format="bibcode">2016MNRAS.463...24L</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/463/24</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/708/427">J/ApJ/708/427 : Type 2 AGNs with double-peaked [OIII] lines (Liu+, 2010)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/463/24</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/463/24/table1 (A new 178 Type 2 Seyfert AGNs with double-peaked narrow [OIII] emission lines at &lt;z&gt;~0.5 selected from SDSS-III/BOSS)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/463/24/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/463/24/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/463/24/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>2.0694583</ra><dec>4.0018333</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/14 647 694 2056 2116 4113 4122 4220 4423 4446 4747 4834 5016 5019 5089 5122 5343 5358 5419 5431 5433 5550 5750 5765 6167 6258 6342 6482 6613 6638 7176 7178 7305 8249 8330 8444 8485 8533 8537 8613 8640 8662 8719 8727 8739 8741 8816 8844 8904 8948 8968 8983 9051 9193 9273 9345 9347 9350 9386 9448 9487 9504 9601 9653 9810 9832 9866 9985 10266 10300 10371 10511 10534 10562 10564 10573 10696 10800 12384 17630 17664 17687 17761 17788 17822 17826 17832 17861-17862 18042 18120 18167 18207 18226 18371 18780 18806 18890 18914 18916 18923 18927 19036 19039 19185 19213 19328 19360 19367 19388 19474 19529 19797 20134 21866 21875 21884 22362 25597 25844 26019 26025 26173 26215 26238 26269 26331 26367 26377 26413 26533 26597 26974 27028-27029 27054 27064 27089 27097 27116 27235 27240 27256 27285 27312 27427 27435 27481 27513 27525 27540 27542 27581 27669 27701 27755 27787 27821 27840 27891 27923 27959 27986 28086 28166 28199 28312 28316 28442 31410 31714 32439 32445 32497 32698</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/463/24?format=ascii</footprint></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/463/24/table1</name><description>A new 178 Type 2 Seyfert AGNs with double-peaked narrow [OIII] emission lines at &lt;z&gt;~0.5 selected from SDSS-III/BOSS</description><column><name>SimbadName</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.id</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="25*">char</dataType></column><column><name>n_zg</name><description>[*] Note on zg (1)</description><ucd>meta.note</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="1*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
