For redshift z&lt;0.6, we derive mass-limited samples and demonstrate that these large samples enhance constraints on the evolution of the quiescent population. The constraints include 2985 new velocity dispersions from the SHELS F2 survey. In contrast with the known substantial evolution of size with redshift, evolution in the velocity dispersion is negligible. The dynamical-to-stellar-mass ratio increases significantly as the universe ages, in agreement with recent results that combine high-redshift data with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Like other investigators, we interpret this result as an indication that the dark matter fraction within the effective radius increases as a result of the impact of the minor mergers that are responsible for size growth. We emphasize that dense redshift surveys covering the range 0.07&lt;z&lt;1 along with strong and weak lensing measurements could remove many ambiguities in evolutionary studies of the quiescent population.</description><source format="bibcode">2022ApJ...929...61D</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/929/61</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/282">II/282 : The SDSS Photometric Catalog, Release 6 (Adelman-McCarthy+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/294">II/294 : The SDSS Photometric Catalog, Release 7 (Adelman-McCarthy+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/V/154">V/154 : Sloan Digital Sky Surveys (SDSS), Release 16 (DR16) (Ahumada+, 2020)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/371/703">J/MNRAS/371/703 : MILES library of empirical spectra (Sanchez-Blazquez+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/172/615">J/ApJS/172/615 : GALFIT result for GEMS galaxies (Haussler+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/382/109">J/MNRAS/382/109 : Massive galaxies in Extended Groth Strip (Trujillo+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/524/A6">J/A+A/524/A6 : Evolution of spectral early-type galaxies (Saglia+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/739/L44">J/ApJ/739/L44 : Structural data for gal. between 0.2&lt;z&lt;2.7 (Damjanov+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/196/11">J/ApJS/196/11 : Bulge+disk decompositions of SDSS galaxies (Simard+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/775/106">J/ApJ/775/106 : CANDELS passive and massive early-type gal.
