Recent observations suggest that the ionizing radiation and particle environment from active cool planet hosts may be detrimental to exoplanetary habitability. Since no direct information on the radiation field is available, empirical relations between signatures of stellar activity, including the sizes and magnetic fields of starspots, are often used. Here, we revisit the empirical relation between the starspot size and the effective stellar temperature and evaluate its impact on estimates of stellar flare energies, coronal mass ejections, and fluxes of the associated stellar energetic particle events.</description><source format="bibcode">2021ApJ...907...89H</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/907/89</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/337">I/337 : Gaia DR1 (Gaia Collaboration, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/IV/38">IV/38 : TESS Input Catalog - v8.0 (TIC-8) (Stassun+, 2019)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/Nat/485.478">J/other/Nat/485.478 : Superflares on solar-type stars (Maehara+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/209/5">J/ApJS/209/5 : Superflares of Kepler stars.
