The present paper goes beyond a specific application that is able to reproduce observational properties of SN1987A and performs a systematic study of an extensive set of nonrotating, solar metallicity stellar progenitor models in the mass range from 10.8 to 120M_{sun}_. This includes the transition from neutron stars to black holes as the final result of the collapse of massive stars, and the relation of the latter to supernovae, possibly faint supernovae, and failed supernovae. We discuss the explosion properties of all models and predict remnant mass distributions within this approach. The present paper provides the basis for extended nucleosynthesis predictions in a forthcoming paper to be employed in galactic evolution models.</description><source format="bibcode">2019ApJ...870....1E</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/870/1</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/608/405">J/ApJ/608/405 : Explosive yields of massive star (Chieffi+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/131/2245">J/AJ/131/2245 : BATC photometry of SN2004dj (Zhang+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/372/1315">J/MNRAS/372/1315 : UBVRI photometry of SN 2004et (Sahu+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/724/341">J/ApJ/724/341 : Nucleosynthesis of massive metal-free stars (Heger+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/408/827">J/MNRAS/408/827 : Simulations of supernova explosions (Dessart+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/199/38">J/ApJS/199/38 : Presupernova evolution (Limongi+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/764/21">J/ApJ/764/21 : Stellar evolutionary models with 13-120Msun (Chieffi+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/769/99">J/ApJ/769/99 : Nucleosynthetic yields for stars &gt;12M{sun} (Brown+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/433/1871">J/MNRAS/433/1871 : UBVRI griz light curves of SN 2012aw (Bose+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/808/42">J/ApJ/808/42 : CHemical Abundances of Spirals II.
