We use Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) far-UV (1344-1786{AA}, FUV) and near-UV (1771-2831{AA}, NUV) imaging to detect young massive stars and trace the recent star formation across the galaxy. The FUV and NUV flux measurements of the SF regions, combined with ground-based data for estimating the reddening by interstellar dust from the massive stars they contain, are used to derive their ages and masses. The GALEX imaging, combining deep sensitivity and coverage of the entire galaxy, provides a complete picture of the recent star formation in M31 and its variation with environment throughout the galaxy. The FUV and NUV measurements are sensitive to detect stellar populations younger than a few hundred Myr. We detected 894 SF regions, with size &gt;=1600pc^2^ above an average FUV flux limit of ~26ABmag/arcsecond^2^, over the whole 26kpc (radius) galaxy disk. We derive the star formation history of M31 within this time span. The star formation rate (SFR) from the youngest UV sources (age &lt;=10Myr) is comparable to that derived from H{alpha}, as expected.</description><source format="bibcode">2009ApJ...703..614K</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/703/614</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/192/6">J/ApJS/192/6 : A GALEX UV imaging survey of nearby galaxies (Lee+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/399/728">J/MNRAS/399/728 : UV-bright sources behind M31 halo (Fittingoff+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/173/643">J/ApJS/173/643 : GALEX UV photometry of M31 Globular Clusters (Rey+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/173/185">J/ApJS/173/185 : GALEX ultraviolet atlas of nearby galaxies (Gil de Paz+,</relatedResource><relatedResource>http://galex.stsci.edu/GR4/ : GALEX GR4/GR5 data release home page</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/703/614</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/703/614/table2 (The UV detected SF regions in M31.)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/703/614/table2?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/703/614/table2?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/703/614/table2?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>12.013985</ra><dec>42.690975</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/2619 2622 2623 2666 2667 2705 2708 2709 2752</spatial><spectral>7.447298006782415e-19 1.4134638842407062e-18</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/703/614?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>UV</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/703/614/table2</name><description>The UV detected SF regions in M31.</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
