The two main goals of the observations are to characterize the young stellar population (which presumably formed in situ in the Bridge and therefore represents the nearest stellar population formed from tidal debris), and to search for an older stellar component (which would have been stripped from either Cloud as stars, by the same tidal forces that formed the gaseous Bridge). We determine the star formation history of the young inter-Cloud population, which provides a constraint on the timing of the gravitational interaction that formed the Bridge. We do not detect an older stellar population belonging to the Bridge in any of our fields, implying that the material that was stripped from the Clouds to form the Magellanic Bridge was very nearly a pure gas.</description><source format="bibcode">2007ApJ...658..345H</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/658/345</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/PASAu/6.471">J/other/PASAu/6.471 : Magellanic Clouds bridge region HI profiles (McGee+ 1986)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/101/41">J/ApJS/101/41 : SMC and Bridge extended catalog (Bica+ 1995)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/339/105">J/MNRAS/339/105 : Western Magellanic Bridge HI observations (Muller+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/658/358">J/ApJ/658/358 : Magellanic Bridge Herbig Ae/Be JHKs mag (Nishiyama+ 2007)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/658/345</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/658/345/table4 (Photometry of stars in Magellanic Bridge Fields)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/658/345/table4?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/658/345/table4?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/658/345/table4?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>25.794583</ra><dec>-74.630833</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/8239 8244 8248 6/32885 32886 32887 32889 32890 32891 32892 32928 32930 32953 32967 32973 32974 32975 32980 32982 32984 32996 33002 33034 33035 33056 33057</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/658/345?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/658/345/table4</name><description>Photometry of stars in Magellanic Bridge Fields</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
