Among these stars are 109 white dwarfs that have either reliable trigonometric parallaxes or color-based distance moduli that place them at a distance within 20pc of the Sun. Most of these nearby white dwarfs are isolated stars, but 28 (25% of the sample) are in binary systems, including such well-known systems as Sirius A/B and Procyon A/B. There are also three double degenerate systems in this sample of the local white dwarf population. The sample of local white dwarfs is largely complete out to 13pc, and the local density of white dwarf stars is found to be 5.0+/-0.7x10^-3^pc^-3^, with a corresponding mass density of 3.4+/-0.5x10^-3^M{sun}_/pc^3^</description><source format="bibcode">2002ApJ...571..512H</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/571/512</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/III/70">III/70 : Luyten's White Dwarf Catalogues (Luyten, 1970-77)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/III/210">III/210 : Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarfs (McCook+, 1999)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/316/147">J/A+A/316/147 : Catalogue of ROSAT White Dwarfs (Fleming+ 1996)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/363/1040">J/A+A/363/1040 : DB white dwarfs from the Hamburg/ESO survey (Friedrich+, 2000)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/378/556">J/A+A/378/556 : UVES/VLT spectra of white dwarfs (Koester+, 2001)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/133/413">J/ApJS/133/413 : BVRIJHK photometry of cool white dwarfs (Bergeron+, 2001)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/571/512</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/571/512/table1 (Known White Dwarfs within 20pc)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/571/512/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/571/512/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/571/512/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>0.667</ra><dec>-34.2276667</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/131 319 1077 1381 2366 2497 2536 2808 3222 3345 3682 6328 6705 6934 7267 7478 7652 7740 8894 9458 9985 10169 10173 11645 12157 12268 12738 13013 13103 13295 14391 14586 15280 15335 15462 16078 16433 16440 16697 17181 17331 17625 18139 18415 18511 18556 18902 20155 20404 20940 21479 21691 22149 22214 22300 22345 22638 22709 22870 23174 23457 23497 23591 24121 24713 25250 25255 25792 26321 26386 26471 26740 27385 28271 28559 29777 29855 30093 30694 31179 31677 33015 33384 33641 34026 35490 35957 36567 37473 37890 38050 39752 40070 40623 41638 42459 42700 42760 43239 43537 44639 45110 46598 47957 48699 49125</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/571/512?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/571/512/table1</name><description>Known White Dwarfs within 20pc</description><column><name>Type</name><description>White dwarf type</description><ucd>src.spType</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="6*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
