Here, we describe initial results from an Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) program to search for planets in the {alpha} Cen AB system using differential astrometry at millimeter wavelengths. Our initial results include new absolute astrometric measurements of the proper motion, orbital motion and parallax of the {alpha} Cen system. These lead to an improved knowledge of the physical properties of both {alpha} Cen A and B. Our estimates of ALMA's relative astrometric precision suggest that we will ultimately be sensitive to planets of a few tens of Earth mass in orbits from 1 to 3au, where stable orbits are thought to exist.</description><source format="bibcode">2021AJ....162...14A</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/162/14</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/237">I/237 : The Washington Visual Double Star Catalog, 1996.0 (Worley+, 1996)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/311">I/311 : Hipparcos, the New Reduction (van Leeuwen, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/107/235">J/A+AS/107/235 : Photographic observations of visual binaries (Jasinta+, 1994)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/687/1264">J/ApJ/687/1264 : Age estimation for solar-type dwarfs (Mamajek+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/771/40">J/ApJ/771/40 : Main-sequence A, F, G, and K stars photometry (Boyajian+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/615/A172">J/A+A/615/A172 : alpha Cen A and B chemical composition (Morel, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/155/24">J/AJ/155/24 : Radial velocity &amp; planet detectability in alpha Cen (Zhao+, 2018)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/162/14</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/162/14</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/162/14</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/162/14</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/162/14</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/162/14</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Millimeter</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/AJ/162/14/table6</name><description>Relative astrometry of alpha Cen B with respect to A</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
