Our data show that Markkanen's cloud - the main polarization structure seen in the North Galactic Pole area (b&gt;75{deg}) extends further towards lower latitudes. Especially, we have found a new dust formation in the area 35{deg}&lt;l&lt;45{deg}, 57{deg}&lt;b&lt;63{deg}. Interstellar polarization in this part of the sky peaks at 0.7%, which gives a lower limit to the extinction A_V_&gt;0.23mag. Polarization vectors in this cloud are very well aligned along the direction of l=50{deg}. On the IRAS 100 micron map this dust structure shows up as a bright emission area. We discuss the new polarization map extending from circumpolar to lower latitudes and point out features which suggest that Markkanen's cloud may be a part of the dust lane in the inner edge of the local spiral or spur.</description><source format="bibcode">2002A&amp;A...384.1050B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/384/1050</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/372/276">J/A+A/372/276 : Polarization catalogue for NGP area (Berdyugin+, 2001)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/384/1050</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/384/1050/table1 (New polarization measurements)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/384/1050/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/384/1050/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/384/1050/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>181.344839</ra><dec>31.210325</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/6971 6/5396 5399 5442 8423 8432 8445 8611 8620 8623 8627 8785 8791-8792 8808 8815 8831 8887 8898-8900 8905 8932 8935 8944 8948-8949 8966-8967 8983 8995-8998 9004 9008 9011 9014 9016 9018 9024 9058 9097 9113-9114 9123 9127 9139 9160 10320-10321 10434 10628 10636 10671 10843 10845 10861 10904 10945 11016-11017 27852 27858 27861 27864 27873 27876 27878-27879 27881 27890 27892 27896 27900 28015 28056-28057 28101 28229 28372 28383 28523 28544 28551 28604</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/384/1050?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/384/1050/table1</name><description>New polarization measurements</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
