These bars are thought to form either through a physical process inherent in galaxies, or through an external process such as galaxy-galaxy interactions. However, there are other plausible mechanisms of bar formation that still need to be observationally tested. Here we present the observational evidence that bars can form via cluster-cluster interaction. We examined 105 galaxy clusters at redshift 0.015&lt;z&lt;0.060 that are selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data, and identified 16 interacting clusters. We find that the barred disk-dominated galaxy fraction is about 1.5 times higher in interacting clusters than in clusters with no clear signs of ongoing interaction (42% versus 27%). Our result indicates that bars can form through a large-scale violent phenomenon, and cluster-cluster interaction should be considered an important mechanism of bar formation.</description><source format="bibcode">2019NatAs...3..844Y</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/other/NatAs/3.844</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/other/NatAs/3.844</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/other/NatAs/3.844/tables1 (Properties of galaxy clusters)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/other/NatAs/3.844/tables1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/other/NatAs/3.844/tables1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/other/NatAs/3.844/tables1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>7.31126</ra><dec>-0.18845</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/1701 4373 4491 4519 4540 4769 4772 4990 5030 5099 5155 5305 5370 5535 5616 5978 5980 5982 6001-6002 6057-6058 6073 6086 6473 6532 6583 7187 7260 7315 8213 8266 8268-8269 8351 8442 8520 8526 8545 8556 8574 8625-8626 8648 8735 8788 8852 9021 9370-9371 9443 9468 9471 9746 9943 10182 10306 10342 10378 10442 10459 10483 10865 17237 17513 17571 18009 18019 18073 18410-18411 18607 18854 18953 19426 19993 23181 25931 25962 25981 26054 26109 26430 26501 27060 27079 27224 27652 28075 28251 28253 28347 28400 28414-28415 28443 28471 28494 31465 31686 31693 31717 32445-32446</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/other/NatAs/3.844?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/other/NatAs/3.844/tables1</name><description>Properties of galaxy clusters</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
