The relation between these accelerations is given by a non-linear function that depends on an acceleration scale a_+_. Some have interpreted this as an evidence for a gravity model, such as modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND), which posits a fundamental acceleration scale a_0_ common to all the galaxies. However, it was later shown, using Bayesian inference, that this seems not to be the case: the a_0_ credible intervals for individual galaxies were not found to be compatible among themselves. A test like the latter is a fundamental test for MOND as a theory for gravity, since it directly evaluates its basic assumption and this using the data that most favour MOND: galaxy rotation curves. Here we improve upon the previous analyses by introducing a more robust method to assess the compatibility between the credible intervals, in particular without Gaussian approximations. We directly estimate, using a Monte Carlo simulation, that the existence of a fundamental acceleration is incompatible with the data at more than 5{sigma}. We also consider quality cuts in order to show that our results are robust against outliers. In conclusion, the new analysis further supports the claim that the acceleration scale found in the RAR is an emergent quantity.</description><source format="bibcode">2020MNRAS.494.2875M</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/494/2875</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/152/157">J/AJ/152/157 : Mass models for 175 disk galaxies with SPARC (Lelli+, 2016)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/494/2875</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/494/2875/table1 (Results for individual galaxies)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/494/2875/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/494/2875/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/494/2875/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>73.2795833</ra><dec>67.0991667</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/975 1007 1114 1561 2169 2351 2383 2409 2866 3436 3511 3519 4511 4522 4534 4554 4650 5067 5124 5129 5168 5174 5230 5329 5469 5500 5503-5504 5581 5584 5587 5589 5591 5594 5596 5599 5623 5625 5628-5629 5631 5636 5669 5710 5751 5827 5956 5967 5975 5982 6604 6623 7132 7241 7303 7523 7602 7624 7743 7882 7946 7957 8552 8557 9097 9463 9855 10282 10286 10475 10511 10637 10662 10809 10817 10841 10847 10881 10908 10910 10924-10925 10927 10930 10935 10941 10976 10979 10990-10991 11000 11006 11019 11030 11092 11127 11375 11389 11448 11566 11639 11696 12570 13489 13522 13668 15551 15592 15594 16016 16083 16441 16519 16595 16701 17165 17753 18315 18378 19570 19697 19843 20020 20353 20438 24952 26106 27030 28077 28087 28107 28149 28230 28259 28261 28346 28463 28496 28535 28637-28638 32231 33435 33589 35514 35536 35746 36974 38846 40531 43972</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/494/2875?format=ascii</footprint></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/494/2875/table1</name><description>Results for individual galaxies</description><column><name>SimbadName</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.id</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="13*">char</dataType><flag>nullable</flag></column><column><name>Name</name><description>Galaxy name</description><ucd>meta.id;meta.main</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="11*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
