Here, we aim to strengthen the evidence of gravitational lensing within the Herschel Bright Sources (HerBS) by cross-comparing their positions to optical (SDSS) and near-infrared (VIKING) surveys, in order to search for the foreground lensing galaxy candidates. Resolved observations of the brightest HerBS sources have already shown that most are lensed, and a galaxy evolution model predicts that ~76 per cent of the total HerBS sources are lensed, although with the SDSS survey we are only able to identify the likely foreground lenses for 25 per cent of the sources. With the near-infrared VIKING survey, however, we are able to identify the likely foreground lenses for 57 per cent of the sources, and we estimate that 82 per cent of the HerBS sources have lenses on the VIKING images even if we cannot identify the lens in every case. We find that the angular offsets between lens and Herschel source are larger than that expected if the lensing is done by individual galaxies. We also find that the fraction of HerBS sources that are lensed falls with decreasing 500-micron flux density, which is expected from the galaxy evolution model. Finally, we apply our statistical VIKING cross-identification to the entire Herschel-ATLAS catalogue, where we also find that the number of lensed sources falls with decreasing 500-micron flux density.</description><source format="bibcode">2020MNRAS.493.4276B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/493/4276</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/462/3146">J/MNRAS/462/3146 : Herschel-ATLAS DR1 (HATLAS) (Valiante+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/343">II/343 : VIKING catalogue data release 2 (Edge+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/632/A34">J/A+A/632/A34 : KiDS+VIKING-450 opt+NIR dataset (Wright+, 2019)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/493/4276</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/493/4276/tablea1 (Table of VIKING counterparts)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/493/4276/tablea1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/493/4276/tablea1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/493/4276/tablea1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>176.65815</ra><dec>-0.19216</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/4102 4106 8202 16522 16547 21837 21839 21841 21844 21853 21878-21879 25591 25593 25596-25597 25918 25938 25941-25942 25944-25945 25957 25960-25962 25964 25972-25973 25977 26005 26049 26053 26056 26253 26273 26276 26283 26285 26288 26290 26956-26957 26961 26963 26967 26969 26980 26992 27279 27297 27301 27303-27304 27307 27321 46556 46567 46580-46581 46586 46876-46877 46879 46914 46918 46920 46924-46925 46927 46929-46930 46933 46937 46944 46946 46948</spatial><spectral>7.952274030004205e-20 1.0188844282367877e-19</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/493/4276?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Infrared</waveband><waveband>Millimeter</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/493/4276/tablea1</name><description>Table of VIKING counterparts</description><column><name>Simbad</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.ref.url</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
