First, we report a very low covering fraction of HI absorption in the CGM of these cluster galaxies, f_c_=_25^+25^_-15_ percent, to stringent detection limits (N(HI)&lt;10^13^cm^-2^). As field galaxies have an HI covering fraction of ~100 per cent at similar radii, the dearth of CGM HI in our data indicates that the cluster environment has effectively stripped or overionized the gaseous haloes of these cluster galaxies. Secondly, we assess the contribution of warm-hot (10^5^-10^6^K) gas to the ICM as traced by OVI and broad Ly{alpha} (BLA) absorption. Despite the high signal-to-noise ratio of our data, we do not detect OVI in any cluster, and we only detect BLA features in the QSO spectrum probing one cluster. We estimate that the total column density of warm-hot gas along this line of sight totals to ~3 per cent of that contained in the hot T&gt;10^7^K X-ray emitting phase. Residing at high relative velocities, these features may trace pre-shocked material outside the cluster. Comparing gaseous galaxy haloes from the low-density 'field' to galaxy groups and high-density clusters, we find that the CGM is progressively depleted of HI with increasing environmental density, and the CGM is most severely transformed in galaxy clusters. This CGM transformation may play a key role in environmental galaxy quenching.</description><source format="bibcode">2018MNRAS.475.2067B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/475/2067</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/475/2067</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/475/2067/tablea1 (Galaxy survey data in QSO/cluster fields)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/475/2067/tablea1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/475/2067/tablea1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/475/2067/tablea1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>161.688293457</ra><dec>15.5418109894</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/2229 6/11509-11511 11513-11518 11577-11580 11582 11593 11595-11596 11598 11653-11655 11657-11662 11664-11666 11680-11682 11845-11847 11851-11853 11856-11858 27605 27607 28290</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/475/2067?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/475/2067/tablea1</name><description>Galaxy survey data in QSO/cluster fields</description><column><name>SimbadName</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.id</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="24*">char</dataType><flag>nullable</flag></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
