Using a torus-obscuration model, we demonstrate that in addition to negative bias, due to absorption in the torus, in finding obscured AGN in hard X-ray flux-limited surveys, there is also positive bias in finding unobscured AGN, due to Compton reflection in the torus. These biases can be even stronger taking into account plausible intrinsic collimation of hard X-ray emission along the axis of the obscuring torus. Given the AGN luminosity function, which steepens at high luminosities, these observational biases lead to a decreasing observed fraction of obscured AGN with increasing luminosity even if this fraction has no intrinsic luminosity dependence. We find that if the central hard X-ray source in AGN is isotropic, the intrinsic (i.e. corrected for biases) obscured AGN fraction still shows a declining trend with luminosity, although the intrinsic obscured fraction is significantly larger than the observed one.</description><source format="bibcode">2015MNRAS.454.1202S</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/454/1202</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/523/A61">J/A+A/523/A61 : INTEGRAL all-sky survey of hard X-ray sources</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/510/4796">J/MNRAS/510/4796 : INTEGRAL/IBIS 17-yr hard X-ray all-sky survey</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/454/1202</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/454/1202/tablea1 (INTEGRAL non-blazar AGN at |b|&gt;5 deg)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/454/1202/tablea1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/454/1202/tablea1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/454/1202/tablea1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>1.029</ra><dec>70.315</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/941 953 1121 1263 1405 1583 1677 2549 2551 2564 3762 3771 4439 6665 7422 7642 7869 7921 7952 8299 8868 8922 9513 9519 10348 10847 10912 10925 10927 10979 13021 13182 13202 14540 14744 14777 15351 15808 16184 16301 16333 17075 17525 17727 17748 17754 17795 17814 18484 18524 19283 20014 21036 21450 22890 22975 23010 23167 23323 23332 24120 24842 25035 25610 25742 25906 26148 26300 26393 26547 27699 27721 27767 28517 28535 28639 28742 29346 29574 29795 29906 31158 32028 33034 34104 34294 34531 35246 36158 36552 36765 36785-36786 36861 37190 37346 37650 38113 38129 38268 38479 38653 38704 38916 38948 39182 39322 40221 40410 41423 41435 41442 41929 41982 42016 42027 42120 42179 42704 42852 43065 43105 43233 43262 43294 43339 43359 43452 43520 43634 43677 43806 43825 43877 44046 44529 44551 44660 45220 45222 45735 46987 47047 47120 47169 47245 47597 47731 47971 48022 49042</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/454/1202?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/454/1202/tablea1</name><description>INTEGRAL non-blazar AGN at |b|&gt;5 deg</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
