Their light curves were parametrized by the SALT2 model and the significance of the observed differences was assessed by a resampling technique. To test our samples and methods, we first looked for known differences between SNe Ia residing in active and passive galaxies. We confirm that passive galaxies host SNe Ia with smaller stretch, weaker colour-luminosity relation [{beta} of 2.54(22) against 3.35(14)], and that are ~ 0.1mag more luminous after stretch and colour corrections. We show that only 0.02 percent of random samples drawn from our set of SNe Ia in active galaxies can reach these values. Reported differences in the Hubble residuals scatter could not be detected, possibly due to the exclusion of outliers. We then show that, while most field and cluster SNe Ia properties are compatible at the current level, their stretch distributions are different (~3{sigma}): besides having a higher concentration of passive galaxies than the field, the cluster's passive galaxies host SNe Ia with an average stretch even smaller than those in field passive galaxies (at 95 percent confidence). We argue that the older age of passive galaxies in clusters is responsible for this effect since, as we show, old passive galaxies host SNe Ia with smaller stretch than young passive galaxies (~4{sigma}).</description><source format="bibcode">2013MNRAS.434.1443X</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/434/1443</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/135/348">J/AJ/135/348 : SDSS-II SNe survey: search and follow-up (Sako+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/135/1766">J/AJ/135/1766 : Sloan Digital Sky Survey-II supernova survey (Zheng+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/136/2306">J/AJ/136/2306 : SDSS-II Supernova survey, 2005 (Holtzman+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/713/1026">J/ApJ/713/1026 : SN Ia rate at redshift &lt;~0.3 from SDSS-II (Dilday+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/185/32">J/ApJS/185/32 : First-year SDSS-II SN results (Kessler+, 2009)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/434/1443</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/434/1443/tablea1 (All supernovae Ia in the cluster sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/434/1443/tablea1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/434/1443/tablea1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/434/1443/tablea1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>40.5608</ra><dec>-0.8622</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/17727 17751-17753 17756 17764 17770 17826 17981 18008 18010 18019 18021 18026 18032 18069-18070 18072 18074 18077 18087 18686 18792 18800 18835 18839 18844 18854 18880 19049 19052 19054 19089 19097 19100 19121 30033 30036-30037</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/434/1443?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/434/1443/tablea1</name><description>All supernovae Ia in the cluster sample</description><column><name>CID</name><description>[822/20882] SN Ia's candidate ID &lt;SDSS-II SN NNNNN&gt;
