This opportunity was exploited to carry out a pilot survey at 20GHz over the area for {delta}&gt;+72.3{deg}. This paper describes all the phases of the observations, as they were performed using new hardware and software facilities. The map-making and source extraction procedures are illustrated. A customized data reduction tool was used during the follow-up phase, which produced a list of 73 confirmed sources down to a flux density of 115mJy. The resulting catalogue, presented here, is complete above 200mJy. Source counts are in agreement with those provided by the Australia Telescope 20GHz (AT20G) survey. This pilot activity paves the way for a larger project, the K-band Northern Wide Survey (KNoWS), whose final aim is to survey the whole Northern hemisphere down to a flux limit of 50mJy (5{sigma}).</description><source format="bibcode">2012MNRAS.426.2107R</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/426/2107</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/426/2107</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/426/2107/table6 (The KNoWS pilot bright sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/426/2107/table6?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/426/2107/table6?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/426/2107/table6?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>3.25833</ra><dec>72.523</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/3819-3820 3839 3882 3886 3907 3918 3951 3985 4014 4027 4042 4054 4057 4070 7642 7911 7915 7967 7979 8017 8031 8057 8067 8077 8091 8112 8123 8147 8161 8177 8181 8187 11774 12010 12091 12104 12139 12141 12166 12173 12185 12209 12218 12241 12251 12258 15834 16093 16113 16115 16170 16184 16195 16222 16239 16247 16253-16254 16257 16261 16264 16272 16281 16298 16301-16302 16309 16333 16351</spatial><spectral>1.325213914061602e-23 1.325213914061602e-23</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/426/2107?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Radio</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/MNRAS/426/2107/table6</name><description>The KNoWS pilot bright sample</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
