The galaxy sample was extracted from the LEDA (<http://www-obs.univ-lyon1.fr/base/>) and COSMOS (Cat. <J/A+AS/117/519>) data bases but essentially by scanning by eye four plates of the UKST/SERC Survey in the region between the Centaurus complex and the Pavo-Indus (PI) wall. The galaxies selected have high central surface brightnesses and are distributed evenly over the whole search area. The majority of the galaxies have apparent magnitudes in the range 11.5<B_J_<17. Redshifts were determined for 211 galaxies with one additional object being found to be Galactic - a planetary nebula. A highly significant density enhancement is found in the galaxy distribution at 5000km/s or 67Mpc (H_0_=75km/s/Mpc). This suggests that a connection exists between the Centaurus complex and the PI wall across the zone of avoidance (ZOA) associated with the Milky Way and as such could be one of the larger structures in the nearby Universe.
1997MNRAS.287..472D<referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/MNRAS/287/472</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VII/119">VII/119 : Catalogue of Principal Galaxies (PGC) (Paturel+ 1989)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/117/519">J/A+AS/117/519 : Structures around the SGP (Escalera+, 1996)</relatedResource></relationship>
<rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/MNRAS/287/472</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch">
Cone search capability for table J/MNRAS/287/472/table3 (The 211 measured galaxies.)
<interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/287/472/table3?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/287/472/table3?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/MNRAS/287/472/table3?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>251.9185563</ra><dec>-60.1477313</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/10335 10341 10352-10353 10506 10822 6/41277-41279 41320 41322-41323 41326 41335 41339 41357 41361-41362 41368-41370 41373 41396 41399 41417-41420 41422 41440 41902-41903 41998-41999 42008 42010-42011 42015 42017-42019 42021-42022 42029-42033 42040 42112-42113 42117 42559 42606 42639 42645-42648 42650-42651 42654-42655 42672-42673 42676-42678 42684 42688-42689 42691 42693-42694 42696 42698-42699 42720 43101 43103 43125 43127 43266 43268 43274 43277 43279 43296-43297 43299 43301-43302 43304 43312</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/MNRAS/287/472?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema>

The 211 measured galaxies.
<column>

Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
