The {eta} Car spectrum is a mixture of absorption and emission lines from the surrounding nebula superimposed on broad stellar wind features. This paper provides a description of the observed spectrum including the wind features, the interstellar absorption, and the emission spectrum from the surrounding nebula, but with the emphasis on the absorption spectrum formed in the foreground ejecta. The ejecta absorption spectrum has a complicated velocity structure in which two velocity structures, at -146 and -513km/s, are easily distinguished. The complete spectrum, with nebular and interstellar line identifications, is available in the electronic edition of the paper.</description><source format="bibcode">2005ApJS..157..138N</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJS/157/138</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/71/983">J/ApJS/71/983 : UV spectrum of eta Car (Viotti+ 1989)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/304/415">J/A+A/304/415 : uvby-Hbeta photometry of Eta Car 1992-94 (van Genderen+, 1995)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/343/847">J/A+A/343/847 : Geneva Photometry of Eta Car (van Genderen+ 1999)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/419/215">J/A+A/419/215 : Emission lines of eta Car (Hartman+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/129/2018">J/AJ/129/2018 : RXTE scaled fluxes of eta Car (Corcoran+, 2005)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/163/173">J/ApJS/163/173 : UV spectrum of eta Car in 2003.5 (Gull+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/168/289">J/ApJS/168/289 : NUV spectrum of eta Car in 2003.5 (Nielsen+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/493/1093">J/A+A/493/1093 : BVRI light curves of eta Car (Fernandez-Lajus+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/181/473">J/ApJS/181/473 : Eta Carinae: visible and near-IR analysis (Nielsen+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/NewA/15.108">J/other/NewA/15.108 : UBVRIHalpha of eta Car in 2009 (Fernandez-Lajus+ 2010)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJS/157/138</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/><waveband>UV</waveband><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJS/157/138/table2</name><description>Identified transition in the UV/NUV spectrum of Eta Car</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
