We use this rich sample to study how the star formation rate (SFR) in the tails of stripped gas depends on the properties of the galaxy and its host cluster. We show that the interplay between all the parameters involved is complex and that there is not a single, dominant one in shaping the observed amount of SFR. Hence, we develop a simple analytical approach to describe the mass fraction of stripped gas and the SFR in the tail, as a function of the cluster velocity dispersion, galaxy stellar mass, clustercentric distance, and speed in the intracluster medium. Our model provides a good description of the observed gas truncation radius and of the fraction of SFR observed in the stripped tails, once we take into account the fact that the star formation efficiency in the tails is a factor of ~5 lower than in the galaxy disk, in agreement with GASP ongoing HI and CO observations. Finally, we estimate the contribution of RPS to the intracluster light (ICL) and find that the average SFR in the tails of ram pressure stripped gas is ~0.22M{odot}/yr per cluster. By extrapolating this result to evaluate the contribution to the ICL at different epochs, we compute an integrated average value per cluster of ~4x109M{sun} of stars formed in the tails of RPS galaxies since z~1.</description><source format="bibcode">2020ApJ...899...13G</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/899/13</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/136/2782">J/AJ/136/2782 : Star formation efficiency in nearby galaxies (Leroy+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/416/727">J/MNRAS/416/727 : Padova-Millennium Galaxy and Group Catalogue (Calvi+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/587/A68">J/A+A/587/A68 : Ionised gas images of NGC 4569 (Boselli+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/151/78">J/AJ/151/78 : Jellyfish galaxy cand. in galaxy clusters (Poggianti+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/607/A81">J/A+A/607/A81 : Properties of the sample of clusters (Biviano+, 2017)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/599/A81">J/A+A/599/A81 : OmegaWINGS clusters of galaxies redshifts (Moretti+, 2017)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/899/13</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/899/13/table1 (Properties of GASP galaxies used in this work)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/899/13/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/899/13/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/899/13/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>160.3349167</ra><dec>-8.896</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/8788 16434 16765 16767 17237 17448 18009 18011 18014 18017 18019 18035 18411 18607 19130 19608 19987 19993 20021 20083 20483 24637 24943 25042 26732 27224 28005 33625 33628 33649 34805 40809 43830 43836 43838-43839 43924 43939 43942 43945 43977 45981 45984 46652 46997</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/899/13?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/899/13/table1</name><description>Properties of GASP galaxies used in this work</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
