The light curve of SN2018ivc declines piecewise-linearly, changing slope frequently, with four clear slope changes in the first 30days of evolution. This rapidly changing light curve indicates that interaction between the circumstellar material and ejecta plays a significant role in the evolution. Circumstellar interaction is further supported by a strong X-ray detection. The spectra are rapidly evolving and dominated by hydrogen, helium, and calcium emission lines. We identify a rare high-velocity emission-line feature blueshifted at ~7800km/s (in H{alpha}, H{beta}, P{beta}, P{gamma}, HeI, and CaII), which is visible from day 18 until at least day 78 and could be evidence of an asymmetric progenitor or explosion. From the overall similarity between SN2018ivc and SN1996al, the H{alpha} equivalent width of its parent HII region, and constraints from pre-explosion archival Hubble Space Telescope images, we find that the progenitor of SN2018ivc could be as massive as 52 M{odot} but is more likely &lt;12M{odot}. SN2018ivc demonstrates the importance of the early discovery and rapid follow-up observations of nearby supernovae to study the physics and progenitors of these cosmic explosions.</description><source format="bibcode">2020ApJ...895...31B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/895/31</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AZh/85/794">J/AZh/85/794 : UBVRHa photometry on 5 galaxies (Gusev+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/729/143">J/ApJ/729/143 : Photometry of type IIn SN 2008am (Chatzopoulos+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/731/120">J/ApJ/731/120 : Intrinsic SN Ia light curves (Mandel+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/736/159">J/ApJ/736/159 : Photometry monitoring of the SN PTF10vdl (Gal-Yam+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/742/L18">J/ApJ/742/L18 : Follow-up photometry of the SN IIb PTF 11eon (Arcavi+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/749/18">J/ApJ/749/18 : Swift/UVOT observations of 12 nearby SN-Ia (Brown+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/753/22">J/ApJ/753/22 : Swift/UVOT observations of SN 2011fe (Brown+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/781/42">J/ApJ/781/42 : Optical photometry of SN 2010jl (Ofek+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/787/29">J/ApJ/787/29 : VOT photometry of Super-Chandrasekhar mass SNeIa (Brown+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/789/104">J/ApJ/789/104 : SNe IIn observations and properties (Ofek+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/796/L18">J/ApJ/796/L18 : Type Ia supernova 2011de UVOT photometry (Brown, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/805/74">J/ApJ/805/74 : SN2014J Swift/UVOT light curves (Brown+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/813/30">J/ApJ/813/30 : UV-Optical light curves of the SNIa iPTF14bdn (Smitka+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/821/57">J/ApJ/821/57 : Photometry of the Type Ib/c SN2013ge (Drout+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/828/3">J/ApJ/828/3 : Swift obs. of the superluminous SNI ASASSN-15lh (Brown+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/836/25">J/ApJ/836/25 : Swift UVOT light curves of ASASSN-15lh (Margutti+, 2017)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/836/232">J/ApJ/836/232 : Swift-UVOT obs. analysis of 29 SNe Ia (Brown+, 2017)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/853/62">J/ApJ/853/62 : Optical and NIR spectra and LCs of SN2016ija (Tartaglia+, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/860/100">J/ApJ/860/100 : LCs of 26 hydrogen-poor superluminous SNe (De Cia+, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/882/L15">J/ApJ/882/L15 : SN 2018hna photometry &amp; spectroscopy obs.
