We estimate their apparent temperatures and luminosities for comparison with their respective massive star populations and evaluate the possible relationships of these different classes of evolved, massive stars, and their evolutionary state. Several of the LBV candidates lie near the LBV/S Dor instability strip that supports their classification. Most of the B[e] supergiants, however, are less luminous than the LBVs. Many are very dusty with the infrared flux contributing one-third or more to their total flux. They are also relatively isolated from other luminous OB stars. Overall, their spatial distribution suggests a more evolved state. Some may be post-RSGs (red supergiants) like the warm hypergiants, and there may be more than one path to becoming a B[e] star. There are sufficient differences in the spectra, luminosities, spatial distribution, and the presence or lack of dust between the LBVs and B[e] supergiants to conclude that one group does not evolve into the other.</description><source format="bibcode">2017ApJ...844...40H</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/844/40</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/469/355">J/ApJ/469/355 : Teff, B-V and BC relation (Flower, 1996)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/469/629">J/ApJ/469/629 : UV-brightest stars of M33 and its nucleus (Massey+ 1996)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/131/2478">J/AJ/131/2478 : M31 and M33 UBVRI photometry (Massey+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/690/837">J/ApJ/690/837 : CN and CO observations toward AGB stars (Milam+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/395/1409">J/MNRAS/395/1409 : Type II-P SN progenitor constraints (Smartt+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/522/A3">J/A+A/522/A3 : M33 CO(2-1) and HI integrated intensity maps (Gratier+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/142/139">J/AJ/142/139 : A new catalog of HII regions in M31 (Azimlu+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/537/A146">J/A+A/537/A146 : Stellar models with rotation. 0.8&lt;M&lt;120 (Ekstrom+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/745/156">J/ApJ/745/156 : M31 Cepheids with HST/WFC3 (Riess+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/790/48">J/ApJ/790/48 : Variable stars in M31 &amp; M33.
