Graham in Arizona, and Cedar Flat in California. For the first time, we have acquired 230GHz VLBI interferometric phase information on M87 through measurement of the closure phase on the triangle of long baselines. Most of the measured closure phases are consistent with 0{deg} as expected by physically motivated models for 230GHz structure such as jet models and accretion disk models. The brightness temperature of the event-horizon-scale structure is ~1x10^10^K derived from the compact flux density of ~1Jy and the angular size of ~40{mu}as~5.5R_s_, which is broadly consistent with the peak brightness of the radio cores at 1-86GHz located within ~10^2^R_s_. Our observations occurred in the middle of an enhancement in very-high-energy (VHE) {gamma}-ray flux, presumably originating in the vicinity of the central black hole. Our measurements, combined with results of multi-wavelength observations, favor a scenario in which the VHE region has an extended size of ~20-60R_s_.</description><source format="bibcode">2015ApJ...807..150A</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/807/150</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/772/13">J/ApJ/772/13 : VLBI observations of 3C 279 at 230GHz (Lu+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/Sci/338.355">J/other/Sci/338.355 : 1.3mm VLBI detections of M87 (Doeleman+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/727/L36">J/ApJ/727/L36 : 1.3mm VLBI observations of Sagittarius A* (Fish+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/613/279">J/ApJ/613/279 : ACS Virgo Cluster Survey.
