Therefore, the accuracy with which we know the masses and radii of extrasolar planets depends directly on how well we know those of the stars, the latter usually determined from the measured stellar surface gravity, log g. Recent work has demonstrated that the short-timescale brightness variations ("flicker") of stars can be used to measure log g to a high accuracy of ~0.1-0.2 dex. Here, we use flicker measurements of 289 bright (Kepmag&lt;13) candidate planet-hosting stars with T_eff_=4500-6650 K to re-assess the stellar parameters and determine the resulting impact on derived planet properties. This re-assessment reveals that for the brightest planet-host stars, Malmquist bias contaminates the stellar sample with evolved stars: nearly 50% of the bright planet-host stars are subgiants. As a result, the stellar radii, and hence the radii of the planets orbiting these stars, are on average 20%-30% larger than previous measurements had suggested.</description><source format="bibcode">2014ApJ...788L...9B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/788/L9</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/V/133">V/133 : Kepler Input Catalog (Kepler Mission Team, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/436/1883">J/MNRAS/436/1883 : Properties of KOI host stars (Walkowicz+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/783/123">J/ApJ/783/123 : Surface gravity for 220 Kepler stars (Campante+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/818/43">J/ApJ/818/43 : Stellar surface gravity measures of KIC stars</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/788/L9</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/788/L9/table1 (Stellar parameters for study sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/788/L9/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/788/L9/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/788/L9/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>290.9193181</ra><dec>37.2871547</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/3646 3690 3706 3732 3734 3735 3738 3740 3742 3743 3776 3777 3778 3780 3785 6/14573 14575 14577 14578 14579 14588 14591 14733 14734 14735 14744 14746 14750 14751 14752 14757 14759 14765 14767 14768 14770 14772 14773 14775 14776 14777 14779 14781 14782 14783 14792 14794 14816 14817 14819 14828 14830 14915 14917 14918 14919 14920 14921 14924 14925 14927 14933 14945 14947 14948 14949 14957 14958 14959 14965 14966 14967 15041 15043 15057 15060 15116 15119 15124 15126 15129 15130 15131 15134 15135 15136 15137 15139 15145 15146 15147 15149 15150 15151 15152 15153 15155 15158 15159 15160 15168 15170 15171 15172 15174 15176 15200</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/788/L9?format=ascii</footprint></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/788/L9/table1</name><description>Stellar parameters for study sample</description><column><name>Kepmag</name><description>Kepler magnitude</description><unit>mag</unit><ucd>phot.mag;em.opt</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType">float</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
