This can be attributed to an increase in the angular sizes of the {mu}as-scale cores or a decrease in the flux densities of the compact {mu}as cores relative to that of the mas-scale components with increasing redshift, possibly arising from (1) the space-time curvature of an expanding universe, (2) AGN evolution, (3) source selection biases, (4) scatter broadening in the ionized intergalactic medium (IGM) and intervening galaxies, or (5) gravitational lensing. We examine the frequency scaling of this redshift dependence of ISS to determine its origin, using data from a dual-frequency survey of ISS of 128 sources at 0&lt;~z&lt;~4. We present a novel method of analysis which accounts for selection effects in the source sample.</description><source format="bibcode">2012ApJ...756...29K</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/756/29</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/249">II/249 : WHAM Northern Sky Survey, V-1.1 (Haffner+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/72">VIII/72 : CLASS survey of radio sources (Myers+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/142/108">J/AJ/142/108 : Radio variability of compact, flat-spectrum AGNs (Koay+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/737/45">J/ApJ/737/45 : Variable 1.4GHz radio sources from NVSS and FIRST (Ofek+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/194/29">J/ApJS/194/29 : Observations of blazars at 15GHz (Richards+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/520/A62">J/A+A/520/A62 : Radio-optical scrutiny of compact AGN (Arshakian+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/689/108">J/ApJ/689/108 : MASIV survey.
