These galaxies have stellar masses that span log(M_*_/M_{sun}_)~9.4 to 11.1 and are offset from the mass-metallicity relation by -0.3 to -0.85dex in 12+log(O/H). In general, they are extremely blue, have high star-formation rates for their masses, and are morphologically disturbed. Tidal interactions are expected to induce large-scale gas inflow to the galaxies' central regions, and we find that these galaxies' gas-phase oxygen abundances are consistent with large quantities of low-metallicity gas from large galactocentric radii diluting the central metal-rich gas. We conclude with implications for deducing gas-phase metallicities of individual galaxies based solely on their luminosities, specifically in the case of long gamma-ray burst host galaxies.</description><source format="bibcode">2009ApJ...695..259P</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/695/259</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/294">II/294 : The SDSS Photometric Catalog, Release 7 (Adelman-McCarthy+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/685/904">J/ApJ/685/904 : Metal-rich dwarf galaxies from SDSS-DR4 (Peeples+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/459/85">J/A+A/459/85 : O/H and gas densities in star-forming galaxies (Nagao+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/448/955">J/A+A/448/955 : Abundances of emission galaxies in SDSS-DR3 (Izotov+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource>http://www.sdss.org/ : SDSS home page</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/695/259</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/695/259/table1 (Low-metallicity mass-metallicity outliers)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/695/259/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/695/259/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/695/259/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>149.9796</ra><dec>10.24727</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/5611 5824 5931 6263 6515 7210 7249 7254 7308 8199 9053 9400 9449 9644 10217 10557 10611 11010 11071 11221 11416 11907 11908 18032 18091 18749 18846 19053 22005 26352 26488 26987 27074 27255 27314 27419 27441 27553 27559 27845 31376 36728</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/695/259?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/695/259/table1</name><description>Low-metallicity mass-metallicity outliers</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
