Photometry of about 1200 semiregular variables with LSPs in the Large Magellanic Cloud is analyzed using the MACHO and OGLE photometry. For about 5% of these objects, additional ellipsoidal-like or eclipsing-like modulation with the same periods as the LSP is detectable. These double-humped variations are usually shifted in phase compared to LSP light curves. I discuss the model of a binary system with a red giant as the primary component and a low-mass object as the secondary. The mass lost by the red giant through the wind follows a spiral pattern in the orbit around the primary star and obscures it, causing LSP variations.</description><source format="bibcode">2007ApJ...660.1486S</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/660/1486</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/247">II/247 : Variable Stars in the Large Magellanic Clouds (MACHO, 2001)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AcA/54/347">J/AcA/54/347 : IVB mag of LMC ellipsoidal variables (Soszinski+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource>http://wwwmacho.mcmaster.ca/Data/MachoData.html : MACHO Home Page</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/660/1486</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/660/1486/stars (Additional information for the sources)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/660/1486/stars?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/660/1486/stars?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/660/1486/stars?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>83.1264583</ra><dec>-69.7929167</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/8272 8274 6/33053 33077 33120</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/660/1486?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/660/1486/table1</name><description>The residual data for 61 LSP stars with double-humped variations</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
