We find a strong correlation between the change in the CIV line flux and the change in the line width, but no correlations between the change in flux and changes in line center and skewness. The relation between line flux change and line width change is consistent with a model in which a broad line base varies with greater amplitude than the line core. The objects studied here are more luminous and at higher redshift than those normally studied for variability, ranging in redshift from 1.65 to 4.00 and in absolute r-band magnitude from roughly -24 to -28.</description><source format="bibcode">2006ApJ...641...78W</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/641/78</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/633/638">J/ApJ/633/638 : 315 SDSS variable quasar sample (Wilhite+, 2005)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/321/123">J/A+A/321/123 : Optical variability of QSOs (Cristiani+ 1997)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/143/465">J/A+AS/143/465 : Quasar variability (Hawkins+, 2000)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/131/1923">J/AJ/131/1923 : Known quasars in the QUEST Variability Survey</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/268/305">J/MNRAS/268/305 : Variability of optically selected quasars (Hook+ 1994)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/641/78</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/641/78/data (CIV variability sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/641/78/data?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/641/78/data?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/641/78/data?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>150.0557083</ra><dec>1.2008889</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/1561 6/2 5915 5918 5930 5937 5939 5940 6267 6268 6271 6507 6511 6593 6595 6597 9841 9974 10232 11343 11444 11445 11447 11464 17745 17763 17769 17774 18750 18833 18835 18836 18837 18844 18845 18882 19417 19750 19753 19763 21982 22001 22005 23103 23183 23207 23211 23212 25839 25937 25940 25943 25961 25966 25997 25999 26002 26011 26025 26175 26204 26205 26206 26210 26211 26229 26230 26236 26237 26261 26961 26966 26968 27237 27245 27281 27283 27286 27287 27289</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/641/78?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/641/78/data</name><description>CIV variability sample</description><column><name>z</name><description>High-S/N epoch redshift</description><ucd>src.redshift</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType">float</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
