We show that the near-IR color-color diagram is an effective means of identifying candidate binary stars containing a WD and a low-mass, main-sequence star. The loci of single WDs and WD+red dwarf binaries occupy distinct regions of the near-IR color-color diagram. We recovered all known unresolved WD+red dwarf binaries located in the 2IDR sky coverage and also identified as many new candidate binaries (47 new candidates out of 95 total). Using observational near-IR data for WDs and M-L dwarfs, we have compared a sample of simulated WD+red dwarf binaries with our 2MASS data. The colors of the simulated binaries are dominated by the low-mass companion through the late M to early L spectral types. As the spectral type of the companion becomes progressively later, however, the colors of unresolved binaries become progressively bluer. Binaries containing the lowest mass companions will be difficult to distinguish from single WDs solely on the basis of their near-IR colors.</description><source format="bibcode">2003ApJ...586.1356W</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/ApJ/586/1356</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/241">II/241 : 2MASS Catalog Intermediate Data Release (IPAC/UMass, 2000)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/III/235">III/235 : Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarfs (McCook+, 2003)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/ApJ/586/1356</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/ApJ/586/1356/WD2 (Complete list })</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/586/1356/WD2?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/586/1356/WD2?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/ApJ/586/1356/WD2?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>6.6379583</ra><dec>39.1511944</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/321 477 548 776 930 1185 1287 2695 3870 4369 4370 4455 4519 4559 4692 4756 4880 5109 5210 5213 5384 5397 5530 5700 5946 6428 6454 6616 7510 7902 8438 8525 8919 9102 9141 9176 9416 9796 9814 9910 10126 10418 10451 10560 10926 10935 10992 11031 11159 11336 11337 11370 11565 11621 12111 12208 13892 14050 16584 16785 16970 17009 17229 17415 17967 19042 19827 20100 20188 20203 20212 22149 22709 23208 23501 23549 25018 25028 25147 25642 25871 26260 26299 26851 27221 27852 28259 28498 28507 31673 31702 31708 32385 33126 35796 35823 35962 36125 36315 36489 36522 36537 36580 36863 40287 40682 40788 42459 44614</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/ApJ/586/1356?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Infrared</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/ApJ/586/1356/WD2</name><description>Complete list }</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
