By providing homogeneous data sets with a high signal-to-noise ratio and wide wavelength coverage, Ariel will unveil the atmospheric demographics of these faraway worlds, helping to constrain planet formation and evolution processes on a galactic scale. Ariel seeks to undertake a statistical survey of a diverse population of planets; therefore, the sample of planets from which this selection can be made is of the utmost importance. While many suitable targets have already been found, hundreds more will be discovered before the mission is operational. Previous studies have used predictions of exoplanet detections to forecast the available planet population by the launch date of Ariel, with the most recent noting that the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) alone should provide over 1000 potential targets. In this work, we consider the planet candidates found to date by TESS to show that, with the addition of already confirmed planets, Ariel will already have a more than sufficient sample to choose its target list from once these candidates are validated. We showcase the breadth of this population, as well as exploring, for the first time, the ability of Ariel to characterize multiple planets within a single system. Comparative planetology of worlds orbiting the same star, as well as across the wider population, will undoubtedly revolutionize our understanding of planet formation and evolution.</description><source format="bibcode">2022AJ....164...15E</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/164/15</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/337">I/337 : Gaia DR1 (Gaia Collaboration, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/345">I/345 : Gaia DR2 (Gaia Collaboration, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/208/9">J/ApJS/208/9 : Intrinsic colors and temperatures of PMS stars (Pecaut+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/564/A125">J/A+A/564/A125 : AGN Torus model comparison of AGN in the CDFS (Buchner+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/440/1649">J/MNRAS/440/1649 : ExoMol line lists for CH4 (Yurchenko+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/809/77">J/ApJ/809/77 : Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) (Sullivan+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/825/62">J/ApJ/825/62 : Star with M_p_sin(i)&gt;0.1M_Jup_ hot Jupiter (Schlaufman+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/831/64">J/ApJ/831/64 : Mass-metallicity relation for giant planets (Thorngren+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/834/17">J/ApJ/834/17 : Mass &amp; radius of planets, moons, low mass stars (Chen+, 2017)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/239/2">J/ApJS/239/2 : Simulated exoplanets from TESS list targets (Barclay+, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/157/242">J/AJ/157/242 : Updated study of potential targets for Ariel (Edwards+, 2019)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/640/A112">J/A+A/640/A112 : TRAPPIST-1 transit timings (Ducrot+, 2020)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/640/A48">J/A+A/640/A48 : K2-32 and K2-233 light and RV curves (Lillo-Box+, 2020)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/160/230">J/AJ/160/230 : WASP-31b &amp; host star rad compared with IMACS (McGruder+, 2020)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/ExA/51.109">J/other/ExA/51.109 : Transit KELT-11b observed by CHEOPS (Benz+, 2021)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/646/A157">J/A+A/646/A157 : HD 108236 CHEOPS light curves (Bonfanti+, 2021)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/NatAs/5.775">J/other/NatAs/5.775 : nu2 Lupi CHEOPS light curves (Delrez+, 2021)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/254/39">J/ApJS/254/39 : Exoplanet candidates from TESS first 2yr obs (Guerrero+, 2021)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/649/A26">J/A+A/649/A26 : TOI-178 six transiting planets (Leleu+, 2021)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/645/A100">J/A+A/645/A100 : SPECULOOS.
