The classification of bodies in this distant region into dynamical classes-subpopulations that experience similar orbital evolution-aids in our understanding of the structure and formation of the solar system. In this work, we propose an updated dynamical classification scheme for the outer solar system. This approach includes the construction of a new (automated) method for identifying mean motion resonances. We apply this algorithm to the current data set of TNOs observed by the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and present a working classification for all of the DES TNOs detected to date. Our classification scheme yields 1 inner centaur, 19 outer centaurs, 21 scattering disk objects, 47 detached TNOs, 48 securely resonant objects, 7 resonant candidates, and 97 classical belt objects. Among the scattering and detached objects, we detect 8 TNOs with semimajor axes greater than 150au.</description><source format="bibcode">2020AJ....159..133K</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/159/133</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/astorb">B/astorb : Orbits of Minor Planets (Bowell+ 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/357">II/357 : The Dark Energy Survey (DES): Data Release 1 (Abbott+, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/468/L13">J/A+A/468/L13 : Photometry of trans-Neptunian object 2005FY9 (Ortiz+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/720/1691">J/ApJ/720/1691 : Observations of the distant Kuiper belt (Schwamb+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/189/336">J/ApJS/189/336 : HST astrometry of TNOs (Benecchi+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/569/A3">J/A+A/569/A3 : Rotational properties of TNOs (Thirouin+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/584/A96">J/A+A/584/A96 : Observations of 50 TNOs and Centaurs (Desmars+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/152/80">J/AJ/152/80 : Astrometry of Pluto &amp; trans-Neptunian objects (Holman+, 2016)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/152/111">J/AJ/152/111 : 2011-2013 survey of trans-Neptunian obj.
