HATS-17b transits its bright (V=12.4) G-type (M_{star}_=1.131+/-0.030M_{sun}_, R_{star}_=1.090_-0.046_^+0.070^) metal-rich ([Fe/H]=+0.3dex) host star in a circular orbit with a period of P=16.2546days. HATS-17b has a very compact radius of 0.777+/-0.056R_J_ given its Jupiter-like mass of 1.338+/-0.065M_J_. Up to 50% of the mass of HATS-17b may be composed of heavy elements in order to explain its high density with current models of planetary structure. HATS-17b is the longest period transiting planet discovered to date by a ground-based photometric survey, and is one of the brightest transiting warm Jupiter systems known. The brightness of HATS-17 will allow detailed follow-up observations to characterize the orbital geometry of the system and the atmosphere of the planet.</description><source format="bibcode">2016AJ....151...89B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/151/89</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/813/111">J/ApJ/813/111 : Differential photometry of the K dwarf HATS-7 (Bakos+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/150/49">J/AJ/150/49 : Photometry and spectroscopy of HATS-8 (Bayliss+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/149/166">J/AJ/149/166 : Photometry and spectroscopy of HATS-6 (Hartman+, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/148/29">J/AJ/148/29 : Spectroscopy and photometry of HATS-4 (Jordan+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/146/113">J/AJ/146/113 : Differential griz photometry of HATS-3 (Bayliss+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/145/5">J/AJ/145/5 : Follow-up photometry of HATS-1 (Penev+, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/144/139">J/AJ/144/139 : HAT-P-39, HAT-P-40, and HAT-P-41 follow-up (Hartman+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/742/59">J/ApJ/742/59 : HAT-P-32 and HAT-P-33 follow-up (Hartman+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/724/866">J/ApJ/724/866 : Follow-up observations of HAT-P-15 (Kovacs+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/710/1724">J/ApJ/710/1724 : Follow-up photometry for HAT-P-11 (Bakos+, 2010)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/151/89</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/151/89</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/151/89</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/151/89</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/151/89</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/151/89</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/AJ/151/89/table2</name><description>Differential photometry of HATS-17</description><column><name>Flt</name><description>Filter used in the observation (Rc, r, or i)</description><ucd>instr.setup;obs</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="2*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
