We separate the low-excitation galaxies from the high-excitation ones, as the former might not harbor a quasar within and thus may not be partaking in the unified scheme models. In the updated 3CRR sample, at low redshifts (z&lt;0.5), the relative number and luminosity distributions of high-excitation galaxies and quasars roughly match the expectations from the orientation-based unified scheme model. However, a foreshortening in the observed sizes of quasars, which is a must in the orientation-based model, is not seen with respect to radio galaxies even when the low-excitation galaxies are excluded. This dashes the hope that the unified scheme might still work if one includes only the high-excitation galaxies.</description><source format="bibcode">2014AJ....148...16S</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/148/16</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/14">VIII/14 : 87GB Catalog of radio sources (Gregory et al., 1991)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/3">VIII/3 : An Optical Catalogue of Radio Galaxies (Burbidge+ 1979)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/32">VIII/32 : Extragalactic sources at 5GHz (Jenkins+ 1977)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/4">VIII/4 : Fourth Cambridge Survey (4C) (Pilkington+ 1965; Gower+ 1967)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/1">VIII/1 : The 3C and 3CR Catalogues (Edge+ 1959-1962)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/204/151">J/MNRAS/204/151 : Bright radio sources at 178 MHz (3CRR) (Laing+ 1983)</relatedResource><relatedResource>http://astroherzberg.org/people/chris-willott/research/3crr/ : 3CRR sample</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/148/16</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/148/16</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/148/16</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/148/16</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/148/16</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/148/16</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/AJ/148/16/table1 (Radio and optical data for our sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/148/16/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/148/16/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/148/16/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>2.4691375</ra><dec>12.7346889</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/245 946 1129 2052 2063 2111 2136 2225 2249 2292 2324 2402 2569 2704 2866 2949 2951 3803 4014 4088 4285 4303 4324 4341 4352 4366 4376 4629 4649 4835 5027 5086 5284 5311 5413 5439 5553 5617 5671 5758 5806 5817 6075 6618 6889 7061 7349 7508 7763 7888 7925 7959 8003 8017 8043 8116 8152 8528 8555 8644 8675 8809 9230 9252 9273 9655 9992 10004 10052 10217 10374 10529 10601 10743 10839 10877 10925 11073 11365 11377 11408 11652 11667 11874 12010 12047 12593 12684 12796 13120 13455 13663 13707 13855 14858 15045 15064 15067 15909 16189 16221 16301 18365 19325 19664 19745 19842 19857 19935 20030 22364 22452 22501 22505 23469 23476 23529 24023 24247 27514 27872 27934 27955 28063 28279 28540 28574 31940 31951 32322</spatial><spectral>2.703436334132769e-25 2.703436334132769e-25</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/AJ/148/16?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Radio</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/AJ/148/16/table1</name><description>Radio and optical data for our sample</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
