A first analysis of stellar variability led to the publication of 345 newly discovered variable stars. Now, a deeper analysis of this data set was used to optimize the variability search procedure. Several methods and parameters have been tested in order to improve the selection process compared to the widely used J index for variability ranking. This paper describes an empirical approach to treat systematic trends in photometric data based upon the analysis of variance statistics that can significantly decrease the rate of false detections. Finally, the process of reanalysis and method improvement has virtually doubled the number of variable stars compared to the first analysis by Kabath et al. (Paper I, 2009, Cat. J/A+A/506/569). A supplementary catalog of 272 previously unknown periodic variables plus 52 stars with suspected variability is presented. Improved ephemerides are given for 19 known variables in the field. In addition, the BEST II results are compared with CoRoT data and its automatic variability classification.</description><source format="bibcode">2012AJ....143..140F</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/143/140</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/corot">B/corot : CoRoT observation log Release 12 (CoRoT, 2009-2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/gcvs">B/gcvs : General Catalogue of Variable Stars (Samus+ 2007-2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/vsx">B/vsx : AAVSO International Variable Star Index VSX (Watson+, 2006-2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/246">II/246 : 2MASS All-Sky Catalog of Point Sources (Cutri+ 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/252">I/252 : The USNO-A2.0 Catalogue (Monet+ 1998)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/141/166">J/AJ/141/166 : HATNet variability survey of K and M dwarfs (Hartman+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/142/114">J/AJ/142/114 : A variable star census in a Perseus field (Pasternacki+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/506/569">J/A+A/506/569 : BEST-II periodic variables in CoRoT LRa02 field (Kabath+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/137/3911">J/AJ/137/3911 : BEST periodic variable stars in LRc2 field (Kabath+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AcA/58/163">J/AcA/58/163 : VI light curves of LMC classical Cepheids (Soszynski+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/136/654">J/AJ/136/654 : BEST periodic variable stars in LRa1 field (Kabath+, 2008)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/134/1560">J/AJ/134/1560 : BEST periodic variable stars in IR01 field (Kabath+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/134/766">J/AJ/134/766 : BEST variable stars in LRc1 field (Karoff+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource>http://www.aavso.org/vsx/ : Variable Star Index</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/143/140</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/143/140</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/143/140</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/143/140</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/143/140</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/143/140</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/AJ/143/140/variables (Catalog of variable stars detected in CoRoT field LRa02 after reanalysis of the data set (table3 of paper), and revised parameters for variables published in 2009 (Kabath et al., Cat.
