Approximately 50% of the ~3500 stars identified to date within ~2.5pc of the namesake Trapezium stars are optically visible, and in this paper we focus on that sample with I&lt;2.5mag. The large number and number density of stars (n_peak_&gt;10^4^pc^-3^), the wide range in the stellar mass (~0.1-50M_{sun}_), and the extreme youth (&lt;1-2Myr) of the stellar population, make the ONC the best site for investigating: (1) the detailed shape of a truly "initial" mass spectrum; (2) the apparent age spread in a region thought to have undergone triggered star formation; (3) the time sequence of star formation as a function of stellar mass; and (4) trends of all of the above with cluster radius.</description><source format="bibcode">1997AJ....113.1733H</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/AJ/113/1733</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/II/171">II/171 : Parenago Catalog of Stars in Orion Nebula (Parenago 1954)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/AJ/113/1733</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/AJ/113/1733/ONC (Stars of Orion nebula cluster)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/113/1733/ONC?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/113/1733/ONC?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/AJ/113/1733/ONC?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>83.5475833</ra><dec>-5.5054</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/21438-21439 22804-22805</spatial><spectral>2.367228618189496e-19 2.6706780932288093e-19</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/AJ/113/1733?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/AJ/113/1733/ONC</name><description>Stars of Orion nebula cluster</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
