The method is based on the fact that the slopes of the energy distribution in the Balmer continuum near the Balmer jump for "normal" main sequence stars and Ap stars with the same effective temperature are identical. The effective temperature calibration is based on a sample of main sequence stars with well known temperatures (Sokolov, 1995, Cat. &lt;J/A+AS/110/553&gt;).</description><source format="bibcode">1998A&amp;AS..130..215S</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+AS/130/215</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/III/162">III/162 : General Catalogue of Ap and Am stars (Renson+ 1991)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/III/199">III/199 : Observed Periods of Ap and Bp stars (Catalano+ 1998)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/110/553">J/A+AS/110/553 : Teff for B, A and F main sequence stars (Sokolov, 1995)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/121/57">J/A+AS/121/57 : Ap stars periodicity (Catalano+ 1997)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/127/201">J/A+AS/127/201 : Variations of Ap stars in the Geneva system (Manfroid+ 1998)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/128/573">J/A+AS/128/573 : ubvy{Delta}a photometry of Renson stars (Maitzen+ 1998)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+AS/130/215</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+AS/130/215/table1 (Effective temperatures of Ap stars)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+AS/130/215/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+AS/130/215/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+AS/130/215/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>4.2729094</ra><dec>38.6816356</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/351 842 962 1164 1287 1313 1521 2527 2682 2697 3571 4251 5805 6229 6497 6847 7705 7734 8094 8462 9048 10151 10783 11094 11109 11202 11279 11786 12396 12770 12864 14513 14567 14718 14766 15361 15424 15523 16982 18273 18797 20340 23538 23782 23945 24480 24562 26057 26381 26855 28137 29212 29390 30434 30475 31940 32019 33935 37290 37790 39170 40882 41376 41565 44468 44651 46835 48587</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+AS/130/215?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+AS/130/215/table1</name><description>Effective temperatures of Ap stars</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
