We used a modified convergent-point method to find stars with space velocities close to the space velocity of the Praesepe cluster. We find a clear indication for the existence of Praesepe's tidal tails, both extending up to 165pc from the centre of the cluster. A total of 1393 stars populate the cluster and its tails, giving a total mass of 794M_{sun}_. We determined a tidal radius of 10.77pc for the cluster and a tidal mass of 483M_{sun}_. The corresponding half-mass radius is 4.8pc. We also found a clear indication for mass segregation in the cluster. The tidal tails outside 2 tidal radii are populated by 389 stars. The total contamination of our sample by field stars lies between 50 and 100 stars or 3.6-7.2%. We used an astrometrically and photometrically clean subsample of Gaia DR2, which makes our Praesepe sample incomplete beyond M~12.0mag; this corresponds to about 0.25M_{sun}_. A comparison with an N-body model of the cluster and its tails shows remarkably good coincidence. Three new white dwarfs are found in the tails.</description><source format="bibcode">2019A&amp;A...627A...4R</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/627/A4</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/345">I/345 : Gaia DR2 (Gaia Collaboration, 2018)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/627/A4</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/627/A4/stars (All the stars shown in Figures 2 and 3)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/627/A4/stars?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/627/A4/stars?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/627/A4/stars?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>86.30707431</ra><dec>77.05543902</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>4/293-294 5/1069 1083 1158 1168-1169 1171 1180-1181 1218 1224 6/3583 4096 4129 4136 4195 4225-4226 4228 4232 4236 4238-4239 4255 4259-4261 4265 4267-4268 4272 4274-4275 4281-4283 4285-4287 4298-4299 4304 4314 4321 4326 4328 4330-4331 4336-4338 4340 4343-4344 4346-4347 4349-4351 4458 4489 4491 4495 4518 4520 4522 4526 4529 4536 4558 4569 4577 4587 4591 4597 4602 4611-4613 4615 4617 4623 4625-4627 4629-4631 4636-4637 4639 4645 4655 4657-4662 4664 4667-4670 4680-4681 4683 4728-4730 4732-4734 4757 4801-4806 4813-4814 4816-4817 4819-4820 4822-4823 4829 4831 4837 4839 4852 4864 4866-4867 4869 4876-4877 4879 4882-4884 4887 4893-4894 4900 4902 4904 4906-4907 4910 4916 4919-4920 4923 4926 4931-4932 4939 4942 4982 4996 5000-5001 5007-5010 5012-5013 5019 5023 5026 5028 5033 5042 5045 5047 5058 5064 5067 5076-5077 5080 5085 5088 5090 5096 5099 5101 5105 5109 5117 5288 5352 5643 5655 5665-5666 5674 5677 5679 5697 5764-5765 5770 5773 5782 5784 5786 5789 5791 5796 5804 5812 5816-5817 5864 5866 5870 5878 6407 6417 6421 6457 6462 6469 6485 6491 6493 6496 6505 6517-6518 6526 6609 7168 7178 7184 7189-7190 7193 7199 7203 7209 7246 7251-7252 7271 7275 7279 7285 7316 7323 7344 7348-7349 7351 7363 7367-7369 7372 7375 7378 7381-7382 7386 7389-7391 7399 7404 7408 7413-7414 7417-7418 7422 7466 7552 7578 7585 7599 7752 7756 7768 7771 7798 7943 7969 7974 7980 7987 21764 21839 21847 21852 21871 21875-21876 21878-21880 21886-21887 21957 21972-21974 21979-21980 22001 22005-22006 40854-40855 40857-40858 40876-40878</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/627/A4?format=ascii</footprint></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/627/A4/stars</name><description>All the stars shown in Figures 2 and 3</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
