I/345) a catalogue of photometric measurements for more than 1.3 billion astronomical objects in three passbands. The precision of the measurements in these passbands, denoted G, G_BP_, and G_RP_, reaches down to the milli-magnitude level. The scientific exploitation of this data set requires precise knowledge on the response curves of the three passbands. This work aims for improving the exploitation of the photometric data by deriving an improved set of response curves for the three passbands, allowing for an accurate computation of synthetic Gaia photometry. This is achieved by formulating the problem of passband determination in a functional analytic formalism, and linking the photometric measurements with four observational, one empirical and one theoretical spectral library. We present response curves for G, G_BP_, and G_RP_ that differ from the previously published curves, and which provide a better agreement between synthetic Gaia photometry and Gaia observations.</description><source format="bibcode">2018A&amp;A...617A.138W</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/617/A138</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/345">I/345 : Gaia DR2 (Gaia Collaboration, 2018)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/619/A180">J/A+A/619/A180 : Gaia DR2 photometric sensitivity curves (Maiz Apellaniz+ 2018)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/617/A138</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/617/A138/table2</name><description>G, BP (bright), BP (faint), and RP passbands, separated into the parallel and orthogonal components</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
