The importance of this radial migration in shaping galactic light distributions is still unclear. However, if it is indeed important, galaxies with different surface brightness (SB) profiles must display differences in their stellar population properties. We investigate the role of radial migration on the light distribution and the radial stellar content by comparing the inner colour, age and metallicity gradients for galaxies with different SB profiles. We define these inner parts avoiding the bulge and bar regions and up to around three disc scale lengths (type I, pure exponential) or the break radius (type II, downbending; type III, upbending). We analyse 214 spiral galaxies from the CALIFA survey covering different SB profiles. We make use of GASP2D and SDSS data to characterise their light distribution and obtain colour profiles. The stellar age and metallicity profiles are computed using a methodology based on full-spectrum fitting techniques (pPXF, GANDALF, and STECKMAP) to the IFS CALIFA data. The distributions of the colour, stellar age and stellar metallicity gradients in the inner parts for galaxies displaying different SB profiles are unalike as suggested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Anderson-Darling tests. We find a trend in which type II galaxies show the steepest profiles of all and type III the shallowest, with type I galaxies displaying an intermediate behaviour. These results are consistent with a scenario in which radial migration is more efficient for type III galaxies than for type I systems with type II galaxies presenting the lowest radial migration efficiency. In such scenario, radial migration mixes the stellar content flattening the radial stellar properties and shaping different SB profiles. However, in sight of these results we cannot further quantify its importance in shaping spiral galaxies, and other processes such as recent star formation or satellite accretion might play a role.</description><source format="bibcode">2017A&amp;A...604A...4R</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/604/A4</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/598/A32">J/A+A/598/A32 : 2D decomposition of CALIFA galaxies (Mendez-Abreu+, 2017)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/604/A4</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/604/A4/table1 (Galaxy characterisation and surface brightness)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/604/A4/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/604/A4/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/604/A4/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>0.77</ra><dec>-1.91</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/43 568 620 626-627 733 738 908 975 995 2229 2251 2273 2290 2641 4053 4178 4342 4454 4511 4667 4704 4712 4719 4801 4806-4807 4843 4850 4950 5028 5075 5115 5298 5332 5399 5533 5579 5593 6116 6216 6241 6366 6448 6977 7214 7584 7783 7822 7824 8164 8341 8458 8498 8522 8552 8562-8563 8621 8743 8883 9124 9126 9220 9622 9718 9859 9874 9883 9885 9891 10025 10111 10113 10183 10200 10221 10280 10380-10381 10414 10434 10485 10566 10583 10612 10628-10629 10661 10705 10739-10740 10778 10921 10987 11010 11112 11272 11314 11369 11377 11387 11396 11435 11761 11789 11800-11801 11832 11944 13316 13381 13426 15002 15004 16787-16788 17234 17238 17350 17398 17499 17571 17663 17672 17747 17751 17761 17819 18069 18081 18173 18300-18302 18775 18779 18781 18800 18932 18935 18941 19108 19227 19267 19325 19487 19489 19508 19515 19537-19538 19618 19749 19939 19954 19981 19983-19984 19996 20031 20033 20040 20193 20254 20279 20417-20418 21857 22651 22654 22737 22740 22742 23051 23182 23208 26495 27133 27559 27608 27719 28213 28430 28458 28513 28522 28579 28617 28639 29973 31628 31642 32462 32471 32478 32482 32555 36604 36793 36857 48880 49084 49121 49130 49150</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/604/A4?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/604/A4/table1</name><description>Galaxy characterisation and surface brightness</description><column><name>SimbadName</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.id</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="24*">char</dataType></column><column><name>Name</name><description>Galaxy name</description><ucd>meta.id;meta.main</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="14*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
