Our survey comprises both XMM-targeted active stars and those observed serendipitously in the field-of-view of each observation. The 2XMM Catalogue and the associated time-series ('light-curve') data products have been used as the basis for the survey of X-ray flares from cool stars in the Hipparcos Tycho-2 catalogue. Our sample contains ~130 flares with well-observed profiles; they originate from ~70 stars.</description><source format="bibcode">2015A&amp;A...581A..28P</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/581/A28</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/xmm">B/xmm : XMM-Newton Observation Log (XMM-Newton Science Operation Center, 2015)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/259">I/259 : The Tycho-2 Catalogue (Hog+ 2000)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/IX/41">IX/41 : XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue 2XMMi-DR3 (XMM-SSC, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/IX/44">IX/44 : XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue 3XMM-DR4 (XMM-SSC, 2013)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/581/A28</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/581/A28/tablec1 (The stars in the 2XMM-Tycho flare survey (1 row per XMM observation))</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/581/A28/tablec1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/581/A28/tablec1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/581/A28/tablec1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>3.6906406</ra><dec>-39.2432189</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/311 342 1050 1052 1114-1115 1168-1169 3849 3986 4027 4444 4698 5420 5689 6069 7273 7309 7612 7743 7763 8124 8173 8790 8843 9442 10255 10303 10599 11290 11434 11856 12804 13301 13743 13778 16144 16186 16220 17124 20071 22289 22659 22805 23191 23230 23527 23538 23548-23549 24151 24951 25682 26125 28062 28831 28892 30439 31751 32994 33116 33121 33298 33694 35150 35514 36697 36956 37871 38145 40784 41270-41271 42137 43803 44894 47828 48263 48274</spatial><spectral>3.322582951404819e-19 3.852589004194616e-19</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/581/A28?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/581/A28/tablec1</name><description>The stars in the 2XMM-Tycho flare survey (1 row per XMM observation)</description><column><name>SimbadName</name><description>Simbad column added by the CDS</description><ucd>meta.id</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="24*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
