Recent Gaia-ESO survey observations led to the discovery of two kinematically distinct populations in the young (10-15Myr) cluster immediately surrounding gamma^2^ Velorum. Here we analyse the results of Gaia-ESO survey observations of NGC 2547, a 35Myr cluster located two degrees south of gamma^2^ Velorum. The radial velocity distribution of lithium-rich pre-main sequence stars shows a secondary population, kinematically distinct and younger than NGC 2547. The radial velocities, lithium absorption lines, and the positions in a color-magnitude diagram of this secondary population are consistent with those of one of the components discovered around gamma^2^ Velorum. This result shows that there is a young, low-mass stellar population spread over at least several square degrees in the Vela OB2 association. This population could have originally been part of a cluster around gamma^2^ Velorum that expanded after gas expulsion, or formed in a less dense environment spread over the whole Vela OB2 region.</description><source format="bibcode">2015A&amp;A...574L...7S</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/574/L7</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/I/324">I/324 : The Initial Gaia Source List (IGSL) (Smart, 2013)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VI/137">VI/137 : GaiaSimu Universe Model Snapshot (Robin+, 2012)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/561/A94">J/A+A/561/A94 : Velocities and photometry in Trumpler 20 (Donati+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/563/A94">J/A+A/563/A94 : Kinematics of the Gamma Vel cluster (Jeffries+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/566/A50">J/A+A/566/A50 : Classification of stellar spectra 644-681nm (Damiani+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/567/A55">J/A+A/567/A55 : Metallicity of the gamma Velorum cluster (Spina+, 2014)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/569/A17">J/A+A/569/A17 : Gaia-ESO Survey: NGC 6705 (Cantat-Gaudin+, 2014)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/574/L7</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/574/L7/table1 (Lithium rich stars in NGC 2547)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/574/L7/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/574/L7/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/574/L7/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>121.89429</ra><dec>-49.06964</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/39181 39183 39192 39194</spatial><spectral>2.367228618189496e-19 3.852589004194616e-19</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/574/L7?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Infrared</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/574/L7/table1</name><description>Lithium rich stars in NGC 2547</description><column><name>RAJ2000</name><description>Right ascension (J2000)</description><unit>deg</unit><ucd>pos.eq.ra;meta.main</ucd></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
