This scattered component has the same scale height as that of the gaseous disk (~80pc) and is therefore thinner than the GRXE of stellar origin (scale height ~130pc). The morphology of the scattered component is furthermore expected to trace the clumpy molecular and HI clouds. We calculate this contribution to the GRXE from known Galactic XBs assuming that they are all persistent. The known XBs sample is incomplete, however, because it is flux limited and spans the lifetime of X-ray astronomy (~50-years), which is very short compared with the characteristic time of 1000-10000 years that would have contributed to the diffuse emission observed today due to time delays. We therefore also use a simulated sample of sources, to estimate the diffuse emission we should expect in an optimistic case assuming that the X-ray luminosity of our Galaxy is on average similar to that of other galaxies. In the calculations we also take into account the enhancement of the total scattering cross-section due to coherence effects in the elastic scattering from multi-electron atoms and molecules.</description><source format="bibcode">2014A&amp;A...564A.107M</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/564/A107</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/469/807">J/A+A/469/807 : Catalogue of Galactic low-mass X-ray binaries (Liu+, 2007)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/564/A107</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/564/A107/tablea1 (List of sources used in the calculations, ranked by 2-10keV luminosity)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/564/A107/tablea1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/564/A107/tablea1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/564/A107/tablea1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>274.005863</ra><dec>-14.035396</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/1196 1226 1796 1965 2572 3030 3035 3044 3160 3308 3632-3633 3690 3728-3729 9512 12405 13036 13875 14056 14251 14305 14437 14452 14610 14632 14664 14677 14692 15367 15476 22159 23652 24451 28690 28705 28707 28723 28744 28751 28779 28798 28805 28808 28815 28819 28825-28828 28830-28831 28835 28849 28852-28853 28860 28862 28875 28877 28879-28880 28889 28896 28921 28925 28971 29100 29113-29114 29162 29192 29195 29204 29208 29220 29267 29306 29461 29463 29506 29535 29870 29923 30239 30244 30256-30257 30260 30262 30298-30299 30362 30400 30439 30506 30580 30598 30618-30619 30622 30753 32484 33073 33094 33113 33298 34242 37196 37363 37475 37732 37897 37906-37907 37921 37925 37930 37936 38026 38028 38470 39238 39246-39247 39422 39886 39937 41279 41399 41446 41530 41596 41654 41662 41697 41748 41768 41797 41802 41809 41813 41823 42140 42159 42163 42169 42174 42196 42207 42210-42211 42214-42215 42217 42221 42228-42229 42315 42370 42384 42387 42393 42401 42417 42434 42446 42450-42451 42453 42464 42467-42468 42485 42487 42491 42493 42533 42841 43009 43020 43057 44094 47805 47866</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/564/A107?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/564/A107/tablea1</name><description>List of sources used in the calculations, ranked by 2-10keV luminosity</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
