Thanks to their penetrating ability, X-rays are able to map the innermost regions close to the central super massive black hole (SMBH) as well as to detect and characterize its emission up to high redshift. We present here a detailed X-ray spectral analysis of the AGN belonging to the XMM-Newton bright survey (XBS). The XBS is composed of two flux-limited samples selected in the complementary 0.5-4.5 and 4.5-7.5keV energy bands and comprising more than 300 AGN up to redshift ~2.4. We performed an X-ray analysis following two different approaches: by analyzing individually each AGN X-ray spectrum and by constructing average spectra for different AGN types.</description><source format="bibcode">2011A&amp;A...530A..42C</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/530/A42</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/IX/41">IX/41 : XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue 2XMMi-DR3 (XMM-SSC, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/428/383">J/A+A/428/383 : XMM-Newton Bright Serendipitous Survey (Della Ceca+, 2004)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/530/A42</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/530/A42/sample (Summary of XMM-Newton observations used and power law fit results (tables 2 and 3 of paper))</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/530/A42/sample?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/530/A42/sample?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/530/A42/sample?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>0.1154167</ra><dec>-25.0786111</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/2340 2704 3934 4438 4448 4567 4750 4838 4992-4993 5091 5241 5313 5569 5687 5715 5731 5975 6027 6035 6040 6056-6057 6069 6977 7242 7310 7374 7409 7424 7426 7761 7871 7921 8066-8067 8258 8299 8339 8707 8922 8944 8952 9490 9512 10169 10255 10265 10465 10604 10938 11204 11206 11252-11253 11424 11787 11790 11856 11936 11938 12025 12111 12122 12644 16591 16755 16890 17022 17074 17221 17457 17553 17598 17683 17689-17690 17749 17752 17754 17817 17819 18184 18385 18387 18524 18590-18591 18912 19020 19022 19298 19402 19569 19797 19846 19848 19883 19978 20000 20460 21016 21245 22964 23210 24896 25084 25188 25245 25682 25906 26037 26080 26125 26292 26310 27009 27041 27136 27191 27246 27428 27860 28167 28173 28334 28356 28583 28589 28647 30021 30029 31389 31391 31504 31536 31628 31630 31669 31712 32298 32858 32961 33067 33378 33635 33713 33716 34104 34271 34443 34535 34653 34845 34975 35585 35935 35950 36005 36129 36131 36526 38268 38916 38973 43872 44094 44894 45421 45587 45590 46079 46130 46399 46484 46726 46737 46740 47017 47058 47682-47683 48262-48263 48423 48478 48610 48614 48907 48950-48951 49125</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/530/A42?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/530/A42/sample</name><description>Summary of XMM-Newton observations used and power law fit results (tables 2 and 3 of paper)</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
