In this paper we present the results of a photometric survey to identify low mass and brown dwarf members of the old open cluster Praesepe (age 590^+150^_-120_Myr, distance 190^+6.0^_-5.8_pc) from which we estimate its mass function and compare this with that of other clusters. We performed an optical (Ic-band) and near-infrared (J and Ks-band) photometric survey of Praesepe covering 3.1{deg}^2^. With 5sigma detection limits of Ic=23.4 and J=20.0, our survey is predicted to be sensitive to objects with masses from 0.6 to 0.05M_{sun}.</description><source format="bibcode">2010A&amp;A...510A..27B</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/510/A27</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/109/29">J/A+AS/109/29 : Very low mass stars in Praesepe (Hambly+, 1995)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/375/989">J/A+A/375/989 : JHK photometry of Praesepe low-mass stars (Bouvier+, 2001)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/342/1241">J/MNRAS/342/1241 : Low-mass stars in M45 and M44 (Pinfield+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/132/1517">J/AJ/132/1517 : Spectroscopy of M dwarfs in Praesepe (Kafka+, 2006)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/510/A27</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/510/A27/table3 (All photometric cluster member candidates of our survey)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table3?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table3?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table3?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>130.223375</ra><dec>19.6829444</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/510/A27/table4 (Photometric candidates in our survey that are also photometric candidates in previous surveys)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table4?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table4?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/510/A27/table4?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>130.2854167</ra><dec>19.9005556</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>5/1174 6/4687 4720-4721</spatial><spectral>1.398457827073138e-19 2.6706780932288093e-19</spectral><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/510/A27?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Infrared</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/510/A27/table3</name><description>All photometric cluster member candidates of our survey</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
