We obtained 57 radial velocities of Gl 176 with the ESO 3.6m telescope and the HARPS spectrograph, which is known for its sub-m/s stability. The median photon-noise standard error of our measurements is 1.1m/s, and the 4-year period over which they were obtained overlaps considerably with the epochs of the HET measurements. The HARPS measurements show no evidence of a signal at the period of the putative HET planet, suggesting that its detection was spurious. We do find, on the other hand, strong evidence of a lower mass 8.4M_Earth_ planet, in a quasi-circular orbit and at the different period of 8.78 days.</description><source format="bibcode">2009A&amp;A...493..645F</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/493/645</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/469/L43">J/A+A/469/L43 : Radial velocities of Gl 581 (Udry+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/474/293">J/A+A/474/293 : Radial velocities of GJ 674 (Bonfils+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/493/639">J/A+A/493/639 : Velocity curves of HD 40307 (Mayor+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/496/513">J/A+A/496/513 : RV of 6 stars with long-period giant planets (Moutou+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/496/521">J/A+A/496/521 : Radial velocities of HD45364 (Correia+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/496/527">J/A+A/496/527 : Radial velocity curves of HD 47186 &amp; HD 181433 (Bouchy+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/507/487">J/A+A/507/487 : GJ 581 radial velocity curve (Mayor+, 2009)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/512/A46">J/A+A/512/A46 : Radial velocities of BD-08 2823 (Hebrard+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/512/A47">J/A+A/512/A47 : Radial velocities of 3 stars with giant planets (Santos+ 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/512/A48">J/A+A/512/A48 : HD125612, HD215497, HIP5158 HARPS RV curves (Lo Curto+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/523/A15">J/A+A/523/A15 : RV data for the 8 targets (Naef+, 2010)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/526/A141">J/A+A/526/A141 : HIP 85647 &amp; Gl 676A radial velocities (Forveille+, 2011)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/527/A63">J/A+A/527/A63 : 7 new HARPS planetary systems radial velocities (Moutou+ 2011)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/493/645</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/493/645</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/493/645</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/493/645</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/493/645</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/493/645</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/493/645/table2</name><description>Radial-velocity measurements and error bars for Gl 176</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
