To carry out this investigation, we have used the XMM-Newton Hard Bright Serendipitous Sample (HBSS), a complete sample of bright X-ray sources (f_x_&gt;~7x10^-14^erg/cm^2^/s) at high galactic latitude (|b|&gt;20{deg}) selected in the 4.5-7.5keV energy band. The HBSS sample is now almost completely identified (97% spectroscopic identifications) and it can be safely used for a statistical investigation. The HBSS contains 62 AGN out of which 40 are unabsorbed (or marginally absorbed; N_H_&lt;4x10^21^cm^-2^) and 22 are absorbed (N_H_ between 4x10^21^ and ~10^24^cm^-2^).</description><source format="bibcode">2008A&amp;A...487..119D</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/487/119</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/B/xmm">B/xmm : XMM-Newton Observation Log (XMM-Newton Science Operation Center, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/IX/39">IX/39 : XMM-Newton 2nd Serendipitous Source Catalogue (2XMM) (XMM-SSC, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/428/383">J/A+A/428/383 : XMM-Newton Bright Serendipitous Survey (Della Ceca+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/444/79">J/A+A/444/79 : Lockman Hole brightest AGNs XMM observations (Mateos+, 2005)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/MNRAS/366/171">J/MNRAS/366/171 : Red AGN in XMM/SDSS fields (Georgakakis+, 2006)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/473/105">J/A+A/473/105 : Lockman Hole AGN variability with XMM (Mateos+, 2007)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/474/473">J/A+A/474/473 : XMM-LSS survey: AGN classifications (Garcet+, 2007)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/487/119</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/487/119</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/487/119</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/487/119</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/487/119</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/487/119</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/487/119/table1 (Basic X-ray information of the XMM-Newton HBSS AGN Sample)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/487/119/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/487/119/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/487/119/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>6.577083</ra><dec>10.838611</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/4992 5241 5569 5715 7242 8066 8707 10465 10604 11787 11790 11856 17457 17690 17819 19020 19569 21016 23210 25682 26037 26080 26292 26310 27041 27191 28334 28583 28589 30029 31391 31630 31712 32298 32961 33067 33378 33635 33716 34443 34535 34653 35950 43872 45590 46079 48423 48610 48614 49125</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/487/119?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>X-ray</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/487/119/table1</name><description>Basic X-ray information of the XMM-Newton HBSS AGN Sample</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
