Thermally averaged collision strengths are presented as a function of electron temperature for application to astrophysical plasmas. An accurate description of the target wave functions has been obtained in the multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock approach with flexible non-orthogonal orbitals. The 42 fine-structure levels of the 2s^2^2p, 2s2p^2^, 2s^2^3l (l=0-2), 2p^3^, 2s^2^4l (l=0-3), 2s2p3s and 2s^2^5l (l=0-2) configurations have been included in the scattering calculation. A second calculation with lowest 35 levels in the close-coupling expansion has also been carried out to check channel coupling effects on collision strengths. The continuum functions have been represented by the use of B-spline basis. The B-spline R-matrix method in the framework of Breit-Pauli approximation has been used to investigate the electron impact excitation of forbidden and allowed transitions in CII.</description><source format="bibcode">2008A&amp;A...486..629T</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/486/629</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJ/526/544">J/ApJ/526/544 : Collision strengths in S III (Tayal+, 1999)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/123/295">J/ApJS/123/295 : Electron impact excitation in Fe XI (Gupta+, 1999)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/418/363">J/A+A/418/363 : Effective collision strengths for Cl II (Tayal+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/426/717">J/A+A/426/717 : Oscillator strengths for ClII lines (Tayal+, 2004)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/163/207">J/ApJS/163/207 : Oscillator and collision strengths in NI (Tayal+, 2006)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/629</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/629</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/629</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/629</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/629</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/629</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/486/629/table4</name><description>Oscillator strengths and transition probabilities for dipole-allowed fine-structure transitions in C II.
