The primary challenge associated with the application of this technique in the inner Galaxy is the kinematic distance ambiguity. In this work, we aim to resolve the kinematic distance ambiguity towards a sample of 6.7GHz methanol masers, which are signposts of the early stages of massive star formation. We measured 21cm HI absorption spectra using the Very Large Array in C and CnB configurations. A comparison of the maximum velocity of HI absorption with the source velocity and tangent point velocity was used to resolve the kinematic distance ambiguity.</description><source format="bibcode">2008A&amp;A...486..191P</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/486/191</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/VIII/65">VIII/65 : 1.4GHz NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) (Condon+ 1998)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/134/115">J/A+AS/134/115 : Medicina 6.7GHz methanol masers survey (Slysh+ 1999)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+AS/143/269">J/A+AS/143/269 : 6.7GHz methanol maser emission survey (Szymczak+, 2000)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/403/1095">J/A+A/403/1095 : 6.7GHz methanol masers survey of low-mass YSO (Minier+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/other/ChJAA/3.49">J/other/ChJAA/3.49 : Velocity and distance of methanol maser sources (Xu+ 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/432/737">J/A+A/432/737 : General Cat. of 6.7GHz Methanol Masers (Pestalozzi+, 2005)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/191</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/191</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/486/191</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/191</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/191</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/486/191</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/486/191/table1 (6.7 GHz methanol maser properties)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/486/191/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/486/191/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/486/191/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>272.25</ra><dec>-20.08222</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/14704 19456 29091 29094 29097 29100-29101 29114-29115 29505 29510 29533 30218-30219 30256 30262 30313 30315 30601 30617 30622 30694 30701</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/486/191?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Radio</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/486/191/table1</name><description>6.7 GHz methanol maser properties</description><column><name>KDA</name><description>[NFT? ] KDA resolution (2)</description><ucd>meta.note</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType" arraysize="2*">char</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
