This allows us to describe Draco's late-type stellar population across the whole galaxy at a photometric level 2mag deeper than the 2MASS survey. We detected the red giant branch (RGB) and measured the magnitude of the tip of the RGB in the three bands. From that in the I band we obtain a distance modulus of (m-M)_0=19.49+/-0.06(stat)+/-0.15(sys), in excellent agreement with a measurement from RR Lyrae stars. The peak of the (J-Ks)_0_ histogram at different M_Ks_ suggests that Draco has a mean [Fe/H]=-1.95+/-1.26 while fiducial RGB tracks of Galactic globular clusters indicate a mean [Fe/H]=-1.33+/-0.72 where the error corresponds to the spread around the mean value. There are significant differences between the colour-magnitude diagrams of stars in the inner, medium and outer areas of the galaxy. A metal poor (Z=0.0004) intermediate-age population (about 1.6Gyr old) is clearly present and emerges in particular between 6' and 12' from the centre of the galaxy. A few additional carbon star candidates have been identified from both their location in the colour-magnitude diagram and from an indication of variability. The large scale distribution of late-type stars is smooth but irregular in shape; this points at a variation of inclination with radius.</description><source format="bibcode">2005A&amp;A...442..165C</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/442/165</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/429/837">J/A+A/429/837 : IJKs photometry of late-type stars in NGC 6822 (Cioni+, 2005)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/121/841">J/AJ/121/841 : RV photometry of Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Piatek+, 2001)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/AJ/123/2511">J/AJ/123/2511 : RV photometry of Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Piatek+, 2002)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/ApJS/145/245">J/ApJS/145/245 : SDSS stars in Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Rave+, 2003)</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/442/165</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/442/165</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/442/165</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/442/165</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/442/165</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/442/165</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/442/165/table1 (IJKs photometry of 2570 stars in Draco)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/442/165/table1?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/442/165/table1?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/442/165/table1?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>260.08908111</ra><dec>57.69179889</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/10181-10183 10188</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/442/165?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband><waveband>Infrared</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/442/165/table1</name><description>IJKs photometry of 2570 stars in Draco</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
