These data are combined with our previous results for 6 other RS CVn systems to examine a possible relationship between the photospheric abundance patterns and the stellar activity level. The stars analyzed are generally found to exhibit peculiar abundance ratios compared to inactive, galactic disk stars of similar metallicities. We argue that this behaviour is unlikely an artefact of errors in the determination of the atmospheric parameters or non-standard mixing processes along the red giant branch, but diagnoses instead the combined action of various physical processes related to activity. The most promising candidates are cool spot groups covering a very substantial fraction of the stellar photosphere or NLTE effects arising from nonthermal excitation. However, we cannot exclude the possibility that more general shortcomings in our understanding of K-type stars (e.g. inadequacies in the atmospheric models) also play a significant role. Lastly, we call attention to the unreliability of the (V-R) and (V-I) colour indices as temperature indicators in chromospherically active stars.</description><source format="bibcode">2004A&amp;A...426.1007M</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/426/1007</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource>Conesearch service</relatedResource></relationship><relationship><relationshipType>related-to</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/412/495">J/A+A/412/495 : Equivalent widths for 6 RS CVn systems (Morel+, 2003)</relatedResource><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/J/A+A/423/677">J/A+A/423/677 : Oxygen abundances in chromospherically active stars</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/426/1007</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><capability xsi:type="cs:ConeSearch" standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/ConeSearch"><description>Cone search capability for table J/A+A/426/1007/stars (List of the stars studied)</description><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/426/1007/stars?</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/426/1007/stars?</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/conesearch/J/A+A/426/1007/stars?</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface><maxSR>180.0</maxSR><maxRecords>50000</maxRecords><verbosity>true</verbosity><testQuery><ra>1.33375</ra><dec>-5.7075</dec><sr>0.005555555555555556</sr></testQuery></capability><coverage><spatial>6/17368 18591 18840 18888 19531 19718 29009 31039 31581 33774 36819 45938 47872 48225 48620</spatial><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc">https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/moc/J/A+A/426/1007?format=ascii</footprint><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/426/1007/stars</name><description>List of the stars studied</description><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
